''The Count of Monte Cristo'' is a lost 1912 unauthorised silent film short directed by Colin Campbell and starring Hobart Bosworth. The film is a remake of the same story Selig had filmed in 1908. When this film was made Adolph Zukor had secured the rights to the 1844 novel and was about to release his 1913 version with James O'Neill who had made the role famous on stage. Colin Campbell (director)
James Colin Campbell (11 October 1859 – 26 August 1928) was a Scottish-born film director, actor and screenwriter. He directed more than 170 films between 1911 and 1924. He also wrote for 60 films between 1911 and 1922. He was born in Scotland, and died in Hollywood, California. Roy Watson (actor)
Roy Watson (August 6, 1876 – June 7, 1937) was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 120 films between 1911 and 1935. Biography Born in Richmond, Virginia, Watson began to act on stage in 1895. He went to Hollywood in 1909. Watson's first work with films was with the Selig Company when he appeared in ''The Hazards of Helen''. Watson was married to, and divorced from actress Jane Keckley. He lived at the McCadden Hotel before moving to a rest home. He died at the Hollywood Hospital in Hollywood, California, on June 7, 1937. Alvin Wyckoff (July 3, 1877 – July 30, 1957) was an American cinematographer who worked on more than 80 films between 1914 and 1945. Several of Wyckoff's films had sequences filmed in the early Handschiegl Color Process, originally billed as the "DeMille-Wyckoff Process". Wyckoff also worked with DeMille to develop the Lasky-lighting technique, which made selective lighting possible. Al Ernest Garcia
Allan Ernest Garcia (11 March 1887 – 4 September 1938) was an American actor and casting director, best known for his long association with Charlie Chaplin. Life and career Al Ernest Garcia appeared in over 120 films between 1911 and 1938, mostly in supporting roles. He frequently played in silent film westerns with stars including Leo Carrillo and Warner Baxter. Garcia also directed a short film named ''The Purple Scar'' in 1917, but it stayed his only work as a director. Born in California to Mexican parents, Garcia played in some Mexican films and also portrayed Mexicans in American films. With the advent of sound film, his roles were somewhat smaller, but he worked as an actor until his death. Garcia is best remembered for his work with Charlie Chaplin. He acted with Chaplin in six films between 1921 and 1936. Chaplin cast him mostly in clinical or villainous supporting roles.
