The Blue Streak (1926 Film)
''The Blue Streak'' is a 1926 American silent romantic adventure film directed by Noel M. Smith and starring Richard Talmadge, Charles Clary, and Louise Lorraine. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Richard Manley visits the El Grande mine in Mexico to check his father's interests and renews his acquaintance with Inez Del Rio, a niece of Don Carlos, owner of the mine. Mine superintendent Jack Slade is the rascal responsible for stopping the shipments of ore to Dick's father. Slade plots to remove Dick, who has evidence of Slade's conspiracy, and kidnaps him. However, Dick escapes in time to reach the hacienda and rescue the Don and Inez from Slade. Dick then constitutes himself to be the protector of Inez for life. Tote Du Crow (also known as George Skyrock or Shyroch) was a film actor and circus performer who acted in many silent films during the early days of Hollywood. Biography Tote was born in Watsonville, California, to parents of Castilian and French origins. According to some accounts, as children, Tote and his brother Daniel ran away from home to join the circus; other sources say their father apprenticed them out to a circus showman. Tote Du Crow portrayed Bernardo in the silent ''Zorro'' films. Gene Sheldon later popularized this role for Disney in the late 1950s. Sheldon's depiction of that character was a full-blooded Spaniard. He played 36 minor roles from 1915 until his death. His last film is '' The Blue Streak'' from 1926. Charles Hill Mailes (25 May 1870 – 17 February 1937) was a Canadian actor of the silent era. Biography Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1870, Mailes appeared in 290 films between 1909 and 1935. He married the actress Claire McDowell in 1906 and the happy couple appeared in numerous silent films together including '' The Mark of Zorro'' (1920). They had two sons, Robert and Eugene. He died in Los Angeles, California, in 1937.
