Texas, Our Texas
"Texas, Our Texas" is the regional anthem of the U.S. state of Texas, adopted in the late 1920s as the official state song. History It was written in 1924 by William J. Marsh, who was born in Liverpool, United Kingdom, and emigrated to Texas as a young man, and Gladys Yoakum Wright, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, and selected as the official state song by a concurrent resolution of the Texas Legislature in 1929 following a statewide competition. Older songs, such as " The Yellow Rose of Texas" and " Dixie", were also considered but ultimately it was decided a new song should be composed. Although the song has been sung since the 41st legislature in 1929, it was officially adopted by the 73rd legislature as the state song in 1993. The song is usually played and sung just before the national anthem, with a display of the flag. In the absence of the flag (when the song is sung), those present are expected to face toward the music and act just as they would if the flag had ...

Philip Lucas, "Martin Van Buren as Party Leader and at Andrew Jackson's Right Hand." in ''A Companion to the Antebellum Presidents 1837–1861'' (2014): 107–129."The Democratic Party, founded in 1828, is the world's oldest political party" states Its main political rival has been the Republican Party since the 1850s. The party is a big tent, and though it is often described as liberal, it is less ideologically uniform than the Republican Party (with major individuals within it frequently holding widely different political views) due to the broader list of unique voting blocs that compose it. The historical predecessor of the Democratic Party is considered to be ...

English Language
English is a West Germanic language of the Indo-European language family, with its earliest forms spoken by the inhabitants of early medieval England. It is named after the Angles, one of the ancient Germanic peoples that migrated to the island of Great Britain. Existing on a dialect continuum with Scots, and then closest related to the Low Saxon and Frisian languages, English is genealogically West Germanic. However, its vocabulary is also distinctively influenced by dialects of France (about 29% of Modern English words) and Latin (also about 29%), plus some grammar and a small amount of core vocabulary influenced by Old Norse (a North Germanic language). Speakers of English are called Anglophones. The earliest forms of English, collectively known as Old English, evolved from a group of West Germanic ( Ingvaeonic) dialects brought to Great Britain by Anglo-Saxon settlers in the 5th century and further mutated by Norse-speaking Viking settlers starting in the 8t ...

Languages Of Texas
Of the languages spoken in Texas none has been designated the official language. As of 2020, 64.9 % of residents spoke only English at home, while 28.8% spoke Spanish at home. Throughout the history of Texas, English and Spanish have at one time or another been the primary dominant language used by government officials, with German recognized as a minority language from Statehood until the first world war. Prior to European colonization, several indigenous languages were spoken in what is now Texas, including Caddoan, Na-Dené and Uto-Aztecan languages. Official language status Texas currently does not have an official language; though historically at various points in time there have been laws giving both official status and recognition to English, Spanish, German and Norwegian. In 1834 with Degree No. 270 of Coahuila y Tejas gave both English and Spanish official status in Texas. In 1836 the Provisional Government of Texas establishing the Judiciary of Texas provided that ...
