''Tempo'' was a monthly lifestyle published in Istanbul, Turkey. The magazine was established on 6 December 1987. The founder was Mehmet Y. Yılmaz, a Turkish journalist. It featured politics, life, health, society, and entertainment. The magazine was owned and published by Doğan Media Group. It was published on a weekly basis until 2009 when its frequency was changed to monthly. The same year it was also redesigned as a lifestyle magazine. Doğan Media Group (''Doğan Yayın Holding A.Ş.'') was a Turkish media conglomerate, part of the Doğan Holding conglomerate. The company was established in 1997 to bring together Doğan's media properties. These include the '' Posta'', ''Hürriyet'' (including '' Fanatik''), and ''Radikal'' newspapers, the television channels Kanal D and CNN Türk, and the Doğan News Agency. It also operated ''Doğan Kitap'', a major book publisher, and ''Doğan Music Company'', a major music label. Umberto Eco (5 January 1932 – 19 February 2016) was an Italian medievalist, philosopher, semiotician, novelist, cultural critic, and political and social commentator. In English, he is best known for his popular 1980 novel ''The Name of the Rose'', a historical mystery combining semiotics in fiction with biblical analysis, medieval studies and literary theory, as well as ''Foucault's Pendulum,'' his 1988 novel which touches on similar themes. Murat Belge (born March 16, 1943) is a Turkish academic, translator, literary critic, columnist, civil rights activist, and occasional tour guide. Career Belge was a member of the organizing committee for a two-day academic conference that started on September 24, 2005, held at Istanbul Bilgi University in Istanbul, titled "Ottoman Armenians During the Decline of the Empire: Issues of Scientific Responsibility and Democracy". The conference offered an open dispute of the official Turkish account of the Armenian genocide, and was denounced by nationalists as treacherous. Belge's remarks led to his facing a ten-year jail sentence for criticizing the judicial ban; he was acquitted.
