''Taking the Heat'' is a 1993 American romantic thriller film that premiered on Showtime. Thomas Frank Mankiewicz (June 1, 1942 – July 31, 2010) was an American screenwriter, director, and producer of motion pictures and television whose credits included ''James Bond'' films and his contributions to '' Superman: The Movie'' (1978) and the television series ''Hart to Hart''. He was the son of Joseph Mankiewicz and nephew of Herman Mankiewicz. Early life and career Mankiewicz was born in Los Angeles on June 1, 1942. Joseph G. Grifasi (born June 14, 1944) is an American character actor of film, stage and television. Grifasi was born in Buffalo, New York, the son of Patricia (née Gaglione) and Joseph J. Grifasi, a skilled laborer.
