Turkey Shoot
A turkey shoot is a Shooting sports, sport shooting event featuring marksmanship competitions, with Turkey (bird), turkeys as prizes. Originally, the turkeys were themselves restrained and put in place to serve as the targets, while modern versions employ standard paper targets. "Turkey shoot" is also in common use as an idiomatic term for an extremely one-sided battle or contest. Sport usage Turkey shoots in America date back at least to the early 19th century. James Fenimore Cooper's ''The Pioneers'' (1823) prominently depicts one, describing it as an "ancient amusement" associated with Christmas. Shoots were common throughout the holiday season, providing birds to adorn dinner tables for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. The Highway of Death ( ''ṭarīq al-mawt'') is a six-lane highway connecting Kuwait and Iraq, officially known as Highway 80. It runs from Kuwait City to the border town of Safwan, Iraq, Safwan in Iraq and then on to the Iraqi city of Basra. The road was used by Iraqi armored divisions for the 1990 invasion of Kuwait.
