Thomaz Soares da Silva, also known as Zizinho (; 14 September 1921 – 8 February 2002), was a Brazilian footballer who played as an attacking midfielder for the Brazil national football team. He came to international prominence at the 1950 World Cup, where he scored two goals. He was lauded as a complete player, with an array of offensive skills such as his dribbling, passing, and shooting ability with both feet, as well as his accuracy from dead ball situations and extraordinary vision. He was Pelé's idol, and is often considered one of the best Brazilian men's footballers of the pre-Pelé era. Thomas Jorge Farkas, born ''Farkas Tamás György'' (October 17, 1924 – March 26, 2011), was a Hungarian-born Brazilian photographer and film producer. Born in Budapest, Farkas grew up in São Paulo, where his parents emigrated in 1930, when he was under 7 years old. His father, Desiderio Farkas, was a founding partner of the Fotoptica company, which he eventually led. He studied engineering at the University of São Paulo – where he met lifelong friend Moishe V. – but ended up opting for a career in photography, mainly because, from a very young age, Farkas was actively involved in photography while working at his father's business. Thomaz Koch (born 11 May 1945) is a former tennis player from Brazil. He won one Grand Slam title in mixed doubles at the 1975 French Open. In singles he was a quarterfinalist in singles at the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. National Championships. Koch was active from 1961 to 1985 and played close to 900 singles matches, and won 36 career singles titles. He was ranked World No 12 player for 1967. His highest computer ranking which was past his peak period in the ATP singles ranking was No. 24 (achieved on December 20, 1974). Alvaro Thomaz, Alvarus Thomaz, or Álvaro Tomás (Floruit, fl. 1500–1521) was a Portuguese mathematician in the tradition of ''Oxford Calculators, calculatores''. He is known from his book ''Liber de triplici motu proportionibus annexis magistri'' published in 1509 which examined the work of the Merton College calculators of England. Biography Thomaz was born in Lisbon and studied at the University of Paris, where he later taught between 1510 and 1521. He studied medicine alongside mathematics and obtained a doctorate in 1518. He taught for several years at the , where his colleagues included the Scot Robert Caubraith. During this period, he was closely associated with the Spanish scholar Juan de Celaya, who later taught at the College of Santa Barbara. Antonio Thomaz Santos de Barros (born 2 May 1986), commonly known as Thomaz, is a Bolivian nationalized Brazilian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Independiente Petrolero. Career Thomaz played for Clube Atlético Juventus and Grêmio Barueri in his native Brazil before signing for Swiss club Chiasso in 2007.
