''Password'' is an American television game show in which two teams, each composed of a celebrity player and a contestant, attempt to convey mystery words to each other using only single-word clues, in order to win cash prizes. The show was created by Bob Stewart (television producer), Bob Stewart and originally produced by Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions. It aired on CBS from 1961 to 1967, and American Broadcasting Company, ABC from 1971 to 1975. The original host was Allen Ludden, who had previously been well known as the host of the ''G.E. Bob Stewart (born Isidore L. Steinberg; August 27, 1920 – May 4, 2012) was an American television game show producer. He was active in the TV industry from 1956 until his retirement in 1991. Frank Edward Wilson (11 April 1924 – 24 October 2005) was an Australian film, stage and television actor; musical comedy singer and director; and television game show and variety host. Early life Frank Wilson was born in 1924 in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote. He left school at the age of 13.
