Taipei Children's Amusement Park
The Taipei Children's Amusement Park (TCAP; ) is an amusement park in Shilin District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is the largest publicly operated amusement park in Taiwan. History The area where the park lies today used to be a ''Pokémon'' themed amusement park. On 11 April 2006, the area was designated as a national archaeological site. In October 2007, the Taipei City Government then initiated a plan to redevelop the area into a new children's park. The park was then opened to the public on 16 December 2014. Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation was commissioned for its management and maintenance. Architecture The park spans over an area of 5 hectares. It is divided into three main zones, which are Fantasy Forest and Dream Ocean, Magic Planet and Toy Soldier Kingdom. Transportation The park is accessible within walking distance north west of Shilin Station of Taipei Metro. Shilin District
Shilin District (also spelled Shihlin District, zh, t=士林區, p=Shìlínqū, poj=Sū-lîm-khu) is a district of Taipei. The central command center of the Republic of China Navy (ROCN) is located in Shilin. History The name ''Shilin'' was derived from ''Pattsiran'', the indigenous Ketagalan people, Ketagalan word for "hot springs". It was then transliterated into literary Chinese, Chinese as "" (), which has been written as ''Pat-chi-na'' or ''Pachina''. Prior to Han Chinese settlement, the area was home to the ''Kimassauw'' community () of the Taiwanese indigenous peoples. During the Taiwan under Qing rule, Qing era, a fort was set up, later called Zhilan Yi Bao (first fort/settlement of Pattsiran, ). The Taipei City Government is the municipal government of Taipei. History Taipei was known as Taihoku during Japan's rule of Taiwan, which started in 1895. Initially, the city was directly controlled by the Governor-General of Taiwan. In 1920, Japan reorganized the system of local government in Taiwan.
