Susan Phillips (politician)
Susan C. Phillips (born June 18, 1949) is a Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives. She lives in Kansas City. She was born in Burlington, Colorado and graduated from Burlington High School. She went on to attend Atlantic Airline School and Maple Woods Community College of the Metropolitan Community Colleges of Kansas City. Phillips was first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in a special election in 1999, winning reelection in 2000, 2002, and 2004. She left office after being term limited in 2006. While in office, she served on the following committees: Children and Families (chair), Local Government, and Workforce Development and Workplace Safety. She is a conservative Republican, and her primary interests include small business, child welfare, limiting abortion, preserving second amendment rights, and traditional marriage. Susan Elizabeth Phillips (born December 11, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is a romance novelist from the United States. She is the creator of the sports romance and has been called the “Queen of Romantic Comedy.” Biography Phillips was born on December 11 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John Aller Titus and Louesa Coate Titus. After receiving a B.F.A. in theater arts from Ohio University, Phillips taught drama, speech, and English at a local high school until her first child was born, then became a stay-at-home mother. In 1976, the family moved from Ohio to New Jersey. There Phillips and her neighbor, Claire Lefkowitz, often discussed the books they liked to read. Together they wrote a historical romance, ''The Copeland Bride'', which was published in 1983 under the pen name Justine Cole. After Claire and her family moved, Phillips began writing by herself. Susan Phillips is an Australian architect. In 2014 she received the Sir James Irwin President's Medal from the Australian Institute of Architects (SA). Background Phillips trained at the University of Adelaide between 1976 and 1980. Upon graduation she worked for both Lester, Firth & Murton and Hassell, where she undertook the first extensive survey of Leigh Street in central Adelaide. Between 1981 and 1984 she worked on the New Parliament House in Canberra, at the offices of Romaldo Giurgola, who became a key influence. Practice Phillips set up Phillips/Pilkington Architects in 1992 with Michael Pilkington, locating their office in their own house, the recently completed Kensington Townhouses. The practice has continued to work on public and educational projects. The practice is currently located in the local heritage listed former offices of Dickson and Platten in North Adelaide. Susanna Phillips (born Burney)
Susanna Elizabeth Burney, later known as Susan Phillips (January 1755 – 6 January 1800), was an English letter and journal writer. She wrote 650,000 words and her letters are said to be "the most important source on opera in the period". Life Burney was born in King's Lynn on a day in January 1755 which was either the 4th or the 7th. She was the fourth child of a talented and influential family. Her father's children included the seafarer James Burney, the writer Frances "Fanny" Burney, the scholar Charles Burney and the writer Sarah Harriet Burney. Her elder sister Esther went with her in 1764 when their father took them to France to improve their French. Burney was in France until 1766, learning the language which was thought likely to improve her prospects of employment as a governess. At some point, she also gained a good knowledge of Italian.
