Surya Vamsam (1997 Film)
''Surya Vamsam'' ( and ) is a 1997 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Vikraman. The film stars R. Sarathkumar in dual lead roles with Devayani. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by S. A. Rajkumar. It was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year 1997. It was subsequently remade into Telugu under the same title (1998), in Hindi as '' Sooryavansham'' (1999), and in Kannada as ''Surya Vamsha'' (2000). Plot Sakthivel Gounder (Sarath Kumar) is a rich, influential and one of the most educated men in his village near Pollachi. He has a wife Latha ( Raadhika), three sons, and a daughter. Sakthivel hates his youngest son Chinnarasu (Sarath Kumar). Sakthivel's daughter's wedding is fixed, and Nandini (Devayani) is the groom's sister. Vikraman
Vikraman is an Indian film director primarily working in Tamil cinema. Career 1990–1994 He worked as an assistant to actor and director R. Parthiban in '' Puthiya Pathai'' (1989), which was the latter's debut film as a director and an actor. Vikraman made his directorial debut with the film '' Pudhu Vasantham'' (1990) produced by R. B. Choudary, for which director K. S. Ravikumar apprenticed under him as an assistant director. The film was about four unemployed friends and musical experts who find themselves unexpectedly saddled with a young woman. Upon release, the film received critical acclaim and it re-wrote Tamil cinema history, sparking a whole range of "friendship" films.
