The Moupin broad-muzzled bat ''(Submyotodon moupinensis)'' is a bat in the family Vespertilionidae endemic to southern China. Alphonse Milne-Edwards (Paris, 13 October 1835 – Paris, 21 April 1900) was a French mammalogist, ornithologist, and carcinologist. He was English in origin, the son of Henri Milne-Edwards and grandson of Bryan Edwards, a Jamaican planter who settled at Bruges (then in France). Milne-Edwards obtained a medical degree in 1859 and became assistant to his father at the ' in 1876. ''Submyotodon'' is a genus of vespertilionid bats, published as a new taxon in 2003 to describe a Miocene fossil species. Extant species and subspecies previously included in ''Myotis'' were later transferred to this genus. Species in this genus are referred to as broad-muzzled bats or broad-muzzled myotises. Taxonomy and etymology ''Submyotodon'' was described as a new genus of bat in 2003, based on fossil specimens found near Eichstätt, Germany. The type species is '' Submyotodon petersbuchensis''.
