St Vincent's Secondary School, or St Vincent's , is an independent Catholic Voluntary Secondary School in Glasnevin, Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It operates as a registered charity under the trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust. As of 2017, St Vincent's CBS secondary school had an enrollment of 375 boys. History The school was founded in 1856, when the Society of St Vincent de Paul purchased a building in Mountbrown, Kilmainham. Within a year, this building proved to be too small and land was purchased at the junction of Finglas Road and Botanic Road in Glasnevin. A building was erected on the site of what later became the Dalcassian Downs residential development. This school opened in 1860 and had residential accommodation for 150 boy boarders, teaching facilities, and a farm which supplied milk and vegetables. Initially run by the Holy Ghost Fathers, Congregation of the Holy Ghost (Spiritans), in 1863 the Congregation of Christian Brothers took over. Day boys ...

Glasnevin
Glasnevin (, also known as ''Glas Naedhe'', meaning "stream of O'Naeidhe" after a local stream and an ancient chieftain) is a neighbourhood of Dublin, Ireland, situated on the River Tolka. While primarily residential, Glasnevin is also home to the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin Cemetery, the National Meteorological Office, and a range of other state bodies, and Dublin City University has its main campus and other facilities in and near the area. Glasnevin is also a civil parish in the ancient barony of Coolock. Geography A mainly residential neighbourhood, Glasnevin is located on the Northside of the city of Dublin (about 3 km north of Dublin city centre). It was established on the northern bank of the River Tolka where the stream for which it may be named joins, and now extends north and south of the river.
