St. James' School (Kolkata)
St. James' School, Kolkata, India, is a CNI school, and is one of the oldest private schools in India. It was founded on the 25th of July in 1864 by Bishop Cotton, and celebrated its sesquicentenary (150 years) in July 2014. It is an all boys school and is associated with the ICSE and ISC Board of Education. The school has four houses which are Cotton, Copleston, Lefroy, and Westcott, each named after an English Bishop who served in India in the 19th century. In 1900, St. James' School won the Beighton Cup. Crest (heraldry)
A crest is a component of a heraldic display, consisting of the device borne on top of the helm. Originating in the decorative sculptures worn by knights in tournaments and, to a lesser extent, battles, crests became solely pictorial after the 16th century (the era referred to by heraldists as that of "paper heraldry"). A normal heraldic achievement consists of the shield, above which is set the helm, on which sits the crest, its base encircled by a circlet of twisted cloth known as a torse. The use of the crest and torse independently from the rest of the achievement, a practice which became common in the era of paper heraldry, has led the term "crest" to be frequently but erroneously used to refer to the arms displayed on the shield, or to the achievement as a whole. Sanjeev Sanyal
Sanjeev Sanyal is an Indian economist and popular historian. He is a member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, and has helped prepare six editions of the Economic Survey of India starting in 2017. Sanyal has written several books on Indian history to mixed reviews. Early life and education Sanjeev Sanyal was born in Kolkata and studied at St. Xavier's School and St. James' School. He received a Bachelor's degree in economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce followed by a Master's degree from St John's College (1992–1995), where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Debashish Chaudhuri
Debashish Chaudhuri (born 14 October 1975) is an Indian symphonic conductor of Western classical music. Since 2000 he has been based in the Czech Republic. He serves on the governing body of The Antonín Dvořák Music Festival and is part of PETROF ART Family. In 2016 he led the concert tour of the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic as the first Czech orchestra in India after 57 years.
