Spring 1975 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the Spring 1975 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. The tournament was played at Bay Tree Golf Plantation in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in early June and had a field of 233 players. It was reduced from 144 holes to 108 holes and there were no regional qualifiers. A total of 13 players earned their tour card. Billy Kratzert attempted to qualify at PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament for the second time. He was unsuccessful at 1974 PGA Tour Qualifying School and was unsuccessful again. In his third attempt, Calvin Peete made it onto the PGA Tour. North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
North Myrtle Beach is a city in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. It was created in 1968 from four existing municipalities, and is located about northeast of Myrtle Beach. It serves as one of the primary tourist destinations along the Grand Strand. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,752, and in 2019 the estimated population was 16,819. Billy Kratzert
William August Kratzert III (born June 29, 1952) is an American professional golfer and sportscaster, who has played on both the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Early life Kratzert was born in Quantico, Virginia when his father was in the service but spent most of his youth in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he attended Elmhurst High School. His father was head pro for over 20 years at the Fort Wayne Country Club. Kratzert won the Indiana State Amateur at age 16. Amateur career Kratzert attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. He was a distinguished member of the golf team and an All-American in 1973 and 1974. Kratzert graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in 1974. He turned pro in that same year. PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament
The annual PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, also known as Qualifying School or Q-School, was historically the main method by which golfers earned PGA Tour playing privileges, commonly known as a Tour card. Beginning in 2013, Q-School grants privileges only for the Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA Tour's official developmental circuit. 1974 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the 1974 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. After three 72-hole regional qualifiers, there were 78 players in the 144-hole final qualifying tournament. The finals were played over two week in November at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California and Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs, California. The top 19 players earned their tour card. Calvin Peete
Calvin Peete (July 18, 1943 – April 29, 2015) was an American professional golfer. He was the most successful African-American to have played on the PGA Tour, with 12 wins, prior to the emergence of Tiger Woods. Peete won the 1985 Tournament Players Championship and finished the season top-5 on the PGA Tour money list three times; 1982, 1983 and 1985. He was ranked in the top 10 players on the McCormack's World Golf Rankings in 1984. Biography Peete was born in Detroit. He played on the 1983 and 1985 U.S. Ryder Cup teams. Tom Purtzer
Thomas Warren Purtzer (born December 5, 1951) is an American professional golfer who has won tournaments on both the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Purtzer was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Arizona State University in Tempe, where he was a member of the school's golf team. He graduated in 1973 and turned pro. He followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Paul, who also played golf for Arizona State and played on the PGA Tour in the 1970s and early 1980s. Purtzer is often described in golf literature as having the "sweetest swing in golf". He won five tournaments on the PGA Tour in three different decades, and won four times on the Champions Tour. Howard Twitty
Howard Allen Twitty (born January 15, 1949) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s; and played on the Champions Tour from 1999 until 2007. Twitty was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Arizona State University in Tempe in 1972 and turned pro in 1974. He won three tournaments on the PGA Tour during his career. His best finish in a major tournament was a T-5 at the 1980 PGA Championship. Twitty missed part of the 1996 season due to foot surgery, and now wears sandals with golf spikes while he plays. The Porter Cup is a 72-hole, medal-play elite amateur golf tournament held annually at the Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, New York. Barry Jaeckel
Barry Louis Jaeckel (born February 14, 1949) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Jaeckel was born in Los Angeles, California, and is the son of actor Richard Jaeckel. He attended Palisades High School, Santa Monica Junior College, turned professional in 1971. Early in his career he played on the European Tour. On the tour's inaugural season, 1972, he won the French Open defeating Clive Clark in a sudden death playoff. Along with Walter Hagen and Byron Nelson, Jaeckel is one of only three Americans ever to win the event. Jaeckel joined the PGA Tour in 1975. He played in 520 PGA Tour events from 1975–1995 and recorded over two dozen top 10 finishes. Like his French Open triumph, his three best results on the PGA Tour were resolved in playoffs. French Open (golf)
The Open de France is a European Tour golf tournament. Inaugurated in 1906 it is the oldest national open in Continental Europe and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since the tour's inception in 1972. The 100th edition of the event was held in 2016. The 2022 edition will take place between 22 and 25 September on the Golf National course. There will be €3 million of prize fund. Last edition played was the 2019 tournament, won by Nicolas Colsaerts. Originally played at La Boulie, the tournament has been hosted by many different venues, but since 1991, it has been held at the Le Golf National near Paris every year except for 1999 and 2001. Bruce Lietzke
Bruce Alan Lietzke (July 18, 1951 – July 28, 2018) was an American professional golfer who won 13 tournaments on the PGA Tour between 1977 and 1994, including two victories in the Canadian Open. His best finish in a major championship was at the 1991 PGA Championship where he finished second, three strokes behind John Daly. He had seven victories on the Champions Tour, including one senior major title, the 2003 U.S. Senior Open. He played in the 1981 Ryder Cup. Early life Lietzke was born in Kansas City, Kansas.
