''Sounding Brass'' a British comedy television series which originally aired on ITV in 1980. Don Leaver
Don Leaver (27 September 1929 – 13 December 2015) was a television director and producer, with a career spanning from 1960 to 2000. He was known for '' The Avengers'', '' A Fine Romance'', ''A Touch of Frost'' and ''Prime Suspect'', but directed or produced many other TV dramas. Leaver was born in London, England, his mother dying in childbirth. His father Edward was a chauffeur so Leaver was brought up mainly by his grandmother in Streatham. After training as an actor at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art he quickly moved into TV production before being invited to direct by Sydney Newman, then with the ITV franchise holder ABC. He directed '' The Avengers'' having already directed its original star, Ian Hendry, in '' Police Surgeon''. As well as directing and then going on to produce episodes for a large number of TV dramas he also directed TV adverts. Harold Innocent
Harold Sidney Innocent (18 April 1933 – 12 September 1993) was an English actor who appeared in many film and television roles. After attending Broad Street Secondary Modern School in Coventry, Innocent worked for a short time as an office clerk. Realising quickly that he was not suited to this career, he turned instead to acting, studying at the Birmingham School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art. After National Service in the RAF, Innocent went into repertory theatre. Later he moved to Hollywood where he appeared in ''Alfred Hitchcock Presents'' in 1959, as well other television series such as '' The Barbara Stanwyck Show''. On his return to the United Kingdom he appeared at the Nottingham Playhouse, the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, the Young Vic, the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Bristol Old Vic. Paul Shane
Paul Shane (born George Frederick Speight; 19 June 1940 – 16 May 2013) was a British actor and comedian. He was known for his television work, in particular playing Ted Bovis in ''Hi-de-Hi!'', a 1980s BBC sitcom. Early life Shane was born on 19 June 1940 in Thrybergh, near Rotherham, in the West Riding of Yorkshire. After leaving school in 1955, he was a miner at Silverwood Colliery until he suffered double herniated discs after slipping on soap in the pithead baths in 1967, being pensioned from the coal mines as a result. Two years later he became a professional entertainer. He already had ten years' experience as a part-time entertainer in pubs and clubs in south Yorkshire. Alex McCrindle (3 August 1911 – 20 April 1990) was a Scottish actor. He was best known for his role as General Jan Dodonna in ''Star Wars''. Biography McCrindle was born in Glasgow, Scotland.
