''Songs for the Living'' is the fourth and final album by the Christian rock band Embodyment. This album continues in the direction of the band's lighter sound, and is the biggest departure from the band's extreme metal roots, and contains prominent indie rock influences. Embodyment
Embodyment was a Christian rock band from Arlington, Texas. The group formed in 1992 and were first known by the name Supplication where they originally played death metal. The band changed its style for its debut album '' Embrace the Eternal'', which is credited as one of the earliest deathcore releases. Following their debut full-length the band would completely abandon all their extreme metal elements thereafter, pursuing instead an alternative rock/nu metal style with their album ''The Narrow Scope of Things'' and subsequently became lighter with each proceeding album. The band frequently performed shows with touring acts such as Living Sacrifice, Zao, Training for Utopia, P.O.D. and No Innocent Victim. Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. ''Hold Your Breath'' is the third studio album by the American Christian metal band, Embodyment. Critical reception Jason Taylor of AllMusic says with ''Hold Your Breath'', Embodyment directs "their sound toward passionate alternative rock", and compared to past releases, "Embodyment targets a much more mainstream version of heavy rock." However, he concludes that ''Hold Your Breath'' "is missing that extra something to claim it is an outstanding album" and "fails to meet expectations." The Famine was an American death metal band formed in Arlington, Texas, in 2006. They were signed to Solid State Records. History Formation and three-song EP The band initially formed with three of the original members of Embodyment in former lead vocalist Kris McCaddon, drummer Mark Garza and guitarist Andrew Godwin. While McCaddon previously played guitar in Demon Hunter he, along with Nick Nowell, also played guitar in Society's Finest. During the fall of 2006 the band recorded 3 songs that would later become a self-released EP. Bruce Patrick Fitzhugh is an American musician. He is the second lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and founding member of Arkansas's Christian metal band Living Sacrifice. The lead vocalist role was left to Bruce shortly after the departure of Darren Johnson and prior to the recording of Living Sacrifice's 1997 album, '' Reborn''. Kris McCaddon is an American musician. He was the second guitarist for the metalcore band Society's Finest and lead guitarist for Demon Hunter. He was also the vocalist for the bands Embodyment and The Famine. Since McCaddon left the Famine in 2010, he has not been active in the music industry as a recording or performing artist. History McCaddon's career started in 1994 when he joined the band Embodyment.
