Society For Nutrition Education
The Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) is an American non-profit organization that represents the professional interests of nutrition educators in the United States and worldwide. The organization was founded as the ''Society for Nutrition Education'' in 1968 as a non-profit organization to publish the Journal of Nutrition Education. Once the Journal was established the Society expanded its purposes to include education, communication and research activities. The first issue of the Journal was published as Summer in 1969. Ruth Huenemann
Ruth Lois Huenemann (February 5, 1910 – August 19, 2005) was an American public health nutritionist. She was a pioneer in the study of childhood obesity. Huenemann was a professor at the University of California, Berkeley and she was the chair of the Department of Social and Administrative Health Sciences in the School of Public Health. Early life and education Huenemann was born February 5, 1910, in Waukon, Iowa, United States. She grew up in both Wisconsin and South Dakota. She was the second of 14 children born to a farming family. She and her siblings were tall and slender. She graduated high school in 1928. During the Great Depression she became a teacher. She attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 1938 with a bachelor's degree in nutrition. In 1941, she graduated from the University of Chicago with a master's degree in nutrition.
