Andrej Bajuk
Andrej Bajuk, also known in Spanish as Andrés Bajuk (18 October 1943 – 16 August 2011) was a Slovene politician and economist. He served briefly as Prime Minister of Slovenia in the year 2000, and was Minister of Finance in the centre-right government of Janez Janša between 2004 and 2008. He was the founder and first president of the Christian Democratic party called New Slovenia. Life in exile Bajuk was born in a Slovene intellectual family in Nazi-occupied Ljubljana. His father Bozidar Bajuk was a classical philologist, and his grandfather Marko Bajuk was the principal of the Bežigrad Grammar School, one of the most prestigious secondary schools in Ljubljana. Viktor Sulčič
Viktor Sulčič (1895 - 1973), also known as Víctor (or Victorio) Sulcic, was a Slovenian born Art Deco architect in Argentina. He was born in 1895 in Križ (in Italian ''Santa Croce'') near Trieste. He completing his studies of architecture in Florence and Bologna. Sulčič emigrated to Argentina in 1924. He joined two other architects there: José Luis Delpini and Raúl Bes. The two most famous buildings designed by the trio, are located in Buenos Aires: the Abasto market, completed in 1934, and Boca Juniors stadium La Bombonera, completed in 1940. Other works by Viktor Sulcic include a collection of water colours depicting South American landscapes and poems written in Spanish. He died in 1973 in Buenos Aires. Tine Debeljak
Tine Debeljak (27 April 1903 – 20 January 1989) was a Slovenian literary critic, translator, editor, and poet. Debeljak was born in Škofja Loka. He graduated in 1927 from the University of Ljubljana, where he studied Slavic and comparative literature. In 1948 he emigrated to Argentina. Pedro Opeka
Pedro Pablo Opeka (born June 29, 1948), known also as Father Opeka, is a Catholic Argentinian-Slovenian priest, working as a missionary in Madagascar. For his service to the poor, he was awarded with the Legion of Honor by the former Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša and French President Emanuel Macron. Early life Opeka was born in Argentina, in San Martín, a suburb of Buenos Aires, to Slovenian parents who immigrated there after war. Juan Vasle, (born 31 August 1954) is a Slovenian operatic and concert bass baritone and a journalist. Biography Singing career Vasle was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he received his diploma as a singer at the Superior Institute of Arte (Instituto Superior de Arte) of the Teatro Colón. Ivan Ahčin
Ivan Ahčin (March 9, 1897 – February 14, 1960) was a Slovene sociologist, journalist, author, and politician. Ahčin was born in Spodnje Domžale (now part of Domžale) and baptized ''Janez Ahčin''. He studied theology at the University of Ljubljana, where he graduated in 1925. He later worked as a professor of sociology at the University of Ljubljana. Between 1929 and 1941 he was also the editor of the newspaper '' Slovenec'', the official organ of the Slovene People's Party and one of the two most influential newspapers in Slovenia. Franc Rode
Franc Rode (or Rodé; born 23 September 1934) is a Slovenian cardinal of the Catholic Church. He is the prefect emeritus of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, having served as prefect from 2004 to 2011. He was elevated to the cardinalate in 2006.
