Shooting At The 1968 Summer Olympics – Mixed Trap
The trap was a shooting sports event held as part of the Shooting at the 1968 Summer Olympics programme. The competition was held on 18 and 19 October 1968 at the shooting ranges in Mexico City. 55 shooters from 34 nations competed. For the first time, the event was open to women as well as men (though none competed). Nations were limited to two shooters each. The event was won by Bob Braithwaite of Great Britain, the nation's first victory in the event and first medal of any color in the trap since 1908. Silver went to Thomas Garrigus of the United States. Kurt Czekalla of East Germany took bronze; it was the first medal in the event for East Germany as a separate nation, and the first medal for any German trap shooter since 1912. Randhir Singh (born 18 October 1946) is an Indian sports administrator and a former Olympic-level trap and skeet shooter. Singh is one of India's most influential sports administrators and is noted for his wide-ranging international connections. He has held many roles in his sports administration career. Singh is the Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), beginning his term on 11 September 2021. His other roles in international sports administration include being a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from 2001 to 2014 and since 2014, he has been an honorary member of the IOC. Maharaja Karni Singh ji (21 April 1924 – 6 September 1988), also known as Dr Karni Singh, was from 1950 the last Maharaja of Bikaner State to hold the title of Maharaja of Bikaner, officially, until 1971, when the privy purse and all the royal titles were abolished by the Republic of India. John Primrose (sport Shooter)
John Nairn Primrose (born 28 May 1942) is a Canadian trap shooter who competed at six Olympics from 1968 to 1992 (excluding 1980). Career His best position was seventh in the Mixed Trap in the 1972 and 1976 Olympics. John won a gold medal in the 1975 Trap World Championships and the 1983 World Championships (see "Olympic Trap"). A high-light was winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978. He was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame after winning his first Commonwealth gold medal in New Zealand. John, a member of Clan Primrose, is the son of Justice Neil Primrose and the grandson of a lieutenant governor of Alberta, Philip Primrose.
