Sheung Shui Station
Sheung Shui (; : , literally "Above-water") is the penultimate northbound station on the in Hong Kong. This station serves as the terminus of northbound trains after the Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau boundary crossings have closed for the day. It is also the last northbound station on the East Rail line that passengers without a Closed Area Permit, Mainland Travel Permit, or valid passport and mainland Chinese visa may freely travel to. This station is located in the North District, New Territories, Hong Kong, serving the Sheung Shui area and its vicinity. History On 1 October 1910, the Kowloon-Canton Railway British Section opened to the public, but Sheung Shui station was not added until 16 May 1930. Yuk Po Court
Choi Yuen Estate () is a public housing estate in Sheung Shui, New Territories, Hong Kong, near Landmark North and MTR Sheung Shui station. It is the first public housing estate in North District and consists of six residential buildings completed between 1981 and 1983. Yuk Po Court () and Choi Po Court () are Home Ownership Scheme courts in Sheung Shui near Choi Yuen Estate, built in 1982 and 1984 respectively. Background The site of Choi Yuen Estate was formerly occupied by vegetable farms and the nearby village was called Tsoi Yuen Tsuen (), which meant Vegetable Farm Village in Chinese. In the 1970s, the vegetable farms were removed to construct Choi Yuen Estate; "菜園村" and "彩園邨" sound almost the same except the tone of the character "菜" / "彩". In the 1990s, the village was demolished to build Landmark North, one of the largest shopping malls in North District. East Rail Line
The East Rail line () is one of ten lines of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system in Hong Kong. It used to be one of the three lines of the Kowloon–Canton Railway (KCR) network. It was known as the KCR British Section () from 1910 to 1996, and the KCR East Rail () from 1996 to 2007. East Rail was the only railway line of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) following the closure of the Sha Tau Kok Railway and before the construction of ''KCR West Rail'' (later renamed West Rail line, now part of the Tuen Ma line). Shek Wu Hui () is a non-administrative subdivision (neighbourhood) and former indigenous market town located in Sheung Shui in the North District of Hong Kong. North District Hospital () or NDH is an acute general hospital serving the population of the New Territories East Cluster. Lo Wu Station
Lo Wu is the northern terminus of the (Kowloon-Canton Railway) of Hong Kong, located in Lo Wu within the Closed Area on Hong Kong's northern frontier. The station serves as a primary checkpoint for rail passengers between Hong Kong and mainland China and vice versa, rather than serving a specific area.
