Senatus Of Uganda
The Senatus of Uganda is the highest governing Council of Legion of Mary (Latin: ''Legio Mariae'', postnominal abbreviation L.O.M.) in Uganda that reports to Concilium Legionis Mariae. Legion of Mary is a voluntary organisation whose membership are members of the Roman Catholic Church at the service of Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary. History Legion of Mary started on 7 September 1921. It mainly operated in Dublin Diocese due to mistrust developed because of its then-unusual dedication to lay apostolate until 1931 when Pope Pius XI praised the movement. Venerable Edel Quinn volunteered as an envoy of Legion of Mary to East and Central Africa. She set sail for Africa from Tilbury in London (where she had been for extension work) on 30 October 1936. She arrived in Uganda on 22 July 1938. On arrival, Edel Quinn met the then Henri Streicher, Vicar Apostolic of Northern Victoria Nyanza who accepted her to establish the Legion of Mary. Luganda
The Ganda language or Luganda (, , ) is a Bantu language spoken in the African Great Lakes region. It is one of the major languages in Uganda and is spoken by more than 10 million Baganda and other people principally in central Uganda including the capital Kampala of Uganda. Typologically, it is an agglutinative, tonal language with subject–verb–object word order and nominative–accusative morphosyntactic alignment. Raphael Owor
Raphael Owor, MBChB, MD, FRCPath, ScD, is a Ugandan physician, pathologist, academic and medical researcher. He is the immediate past Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology, serving in that capacity from 2003 until 2007. Prior to that, he served as the Dean of Makerere University School of Medicine, after serving as Pathology Professor and Head of Department at Makerere University. Emmanuel Wamala
Emmanuel Wamala (born 15 December 1926) is a Ugandan cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, and former Archbishop of Kampala from 1990 to 2006. He is currently serving as the Cardinal-Priest of Sant'Ugo, appointed in 1994. Priesthood Wamala was born in Kamaggwa parish of Lwaggulwe Masaka district, Uganda. He was ordained, on 21 December 1957, chapel of the Pontifical Collegio Urbaniano, Rome, by Pietro Sigismondi. In the same ceremony Stephen Fumio Hamao, future cardinal, was also ordained. He studied in Rome from 1957 to 1960 and had further studies in Uganda and United States, as well as pastoral ministry in the diocese of Masaka, from 1960 to 1981. He obtained a Bachelor of Theology. Joseph Mukwaya
Joseph Mukwaya (26 September 1930 – 5 September 2008), was a Ugandan Roman Catholic prelate who served as the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana, from 21 June 1988 until his resignation, on health grounds, on 23 October 2004. He died on 5 September 2008, three weeks shy of his 78th birthday, as the Bishop Emeritus of Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese, in Uganda. Ibanda District is a district in the Western Region of Uganda. The town of Ibanda is the site of the district headquarters. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mbarara (''Archidioecesis Mbararaensis'') in Uganda covers an area of 10,980 km² in southwestern Uganda.
