Jayne Secker
Katherine Jayne Secker (born 12 July 1972) is an English journalist and newsreader for Sky News. She has presented ''Sky News Today'' on the channel since September 2014, formerly alongside Colin Brazier. Early life Secker was born in 1972 in Bedlington, Northumberland and grew up in North East England. Her mother was the Tyne Tees Television and BBC Radio Newcastle broadcaster Kathy Secker. Following A levels at Westfield School, she undertook a degree course in film and media at the University of Stirling. During that time she edited student newspapers and completed an internship with BBC Radio Newcastle. After graduating, she became an assigned BBC trainee in 1996. Career Secker joined Sky News in 2002. She spent 10 years as a foreign correspondent, frequently reporting from war zones including the Middle East. Kathy Secker
Kathy Secker (born Catherine Barnfather ; 18 February 1945 – 15 December 2015) was a British broadcaster, best known for her work at Tyne Tees Television and BBC Radio Newcastle. During her early broadcasting career at Tyne Tees (1976-1984) she was usually credited as Cathy Secker. Career After she had worked as a secretary to an ENT specialist and as a bank clerk, her husband persuaded her to consider a career as a model, which proved to be successful. Secker became the face of an advertising campaign for the Northern Gas Board. In later years, she also fronted TV adverts for Co-op stores in the North East. The popularity of the gas board campaign led to Secker's being offered a role as a continuity announcer and newsreader for Tyne Tees Television in 1976. Following the 13-week 1979 ITV technicians' strike, Secker was the first presenter back on air on 24 October. She left the station in 1984, before returning to her continuity role in 1990. Martin Secker (6 April 1882 – 6 April 1978), born Percy Martin Secker Klingender, was a London publisher who was responsible for producing the work of a distinguished group of literary authors, including D. Patrick Damien "Pat" Secker (born 6 June 1956), Australian politician, was a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives from October 1998 to August 2013, representing the Division of Barker, South Australia. Biography Secker was born in Happy Valley, South Australia, and was educated at Flinders University, Adelaide gaining a degree in Economics and Politics. He was a primary producer, small business retailer and company director before entering politics. He was a member of the Meadows District Council 1981-83 and the Mt Barker District Council 1983–92.
