Scotland Women's National Rugby Sevens Team
The Scotland women's national sevens team is a minor rugby sevens team. They regularly compete at the Europe Women's Sevens. History Scott Wight was appointed as head coach in 2017. Scotland competed at the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens Final Qualifier but did not qualify. Scotland were invited to the final leg of the 2018–19 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series in Biarritz, they placed eleventh in the tournament. Scotland qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and will be making their debut since the introduction of the women’s competition at the 2018 Games. Thistle
Thistle is the common name of a group of flowering plants characterised by leaves with sharp prickles on the margins, mostly in the family Asteraceae. Prickles can also occur all over the planton the stem and on the flat parts of the leaves. These prickles are an adaptation that protects the plant from being eaten by herbivores. Typically, an involucre with a clasping shape similar to a cup or urn subtends each of a thistle's flower heads. The comparative amount of spininess varies dramatically by species. Evie Gallagher (born 22 August 2000 is a Scottish rugby player from Stirling who made her debut as an international player in the 2021 Women's Six Nations Championship at the age of 20. Club career Gallagher plays for Stirling County, her local team, which she has played for since she joined the minis at the club. Her club coach, Al Wilson, says of the player, ''“Evie is a natural athlete. When she played in the minis at the club, she played on the wing because she was so quick with her step. In the under-15 team, she played mainly at centre before the transition started to the back-row when she was in the under-18s."'' The Scotland women's national rugby union team represents Scotland in women's international rugby union and is governed by the Scottish Rugby Union. The team competes in the annual Women's Six National Championship and has competed in five of the Women's Rugby World Cups since their hosted debut in 1994. Scotland National Rugby Sevens Team
The Scotland national rugby sevens team competes in the World Rugby Sevens Series, Rugby World Cup Sevens and the Commonwealth Games. The head coach is Ciaran Beattie, supported by manager Sean Lamont and skills coach Graham Shiel. During 2006, the side were in danger of no longer competing in the Sevens World Series due to the financial problems faced by the Scottish Rugby Union. However, they gained a reprieve when the International Rugby Board announced that a leg of the Sevens World Series would be held at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, starting in 2007. The SRU then announced that the Scotland sevens team would compete in all eight legs of the Sevens World Series, and draw players from the country's national academy. The 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the sixth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens. The tournament was held at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia. New Zealand won the tournament, defeating England 33–0 in the final. Attendance for the tournament was poor, with matches played in mostly empty stadiums. Liz Musgrove (born 25 December 1996) is a Scottish rugby player from Edinburgh who has played in multiple Women's Six Nations Championships, including the 2021 Women's Six Nations Championship, despite only taking up the sport at the age of 20. She is also a Junior British Judo Champion. Shona Campbell (born 7 June 2001) is a Scottish rugby player from Dundee who was selected for the Scotland Women's Six Nations squad in the 2021 Women's Six Nations Championship. Caity Mattinson (born 17 May 1996) is a Scottish rugby union player who plays as a scrum half. After initially playing England she went on to represent Scotland at the Rugby World Cup and Commonwealth Games.
