This is a list of school districts in Iowa, sorted by Area Education Agencies (AEA). Districts are listed by their official names, though several schools use "Schools" in their name or website rather than "Community School District". , this list has not been expanded to include former school districts. Background In the early 1900s the state had 4,873 school districts. The state government passed the Consolidated School of Law of 1906 and this figure fell to 4,863 in 1908, 4,839 in 1922,. and 4,558 in 1953. That year some additional laws were passed that contributed to reducing this further, and so this fell further to 458 as of July 1, 1965; that year another law made providing a high school mandatory for a school district, which meant school districts that had one room schoolhouses were required to consolidate. The Charles City Community School District, or Charles City Schools is a public school district headquartered in Charles City, Iowa. Occupying sections of Floyd and Chickasaw counties, it serves Charles City, Colwell, Floyd, and the surrounding rural areas. Nashua-Plainfield Community School District
Nashua-Plainfield Community School District (N-P) is a rural, public school district headquartered in Nashua, Iowa. The district, serving Nashua and Plainfield, occupies sections of four counties: Bremer, Butler, Chickasaw, and Floyd. It was established on July 1, 1997, by the merger of the Nashua and Plainfield school districts. Facility It has a athletic facility known as the Husky Wellness Center, which opened in 2013. Circa 2019, there were plans to build a playground with $25,000 raised by students. The district issued a call for volunteers to build it. Enrollment In the 2012–2013 school year, the district had 658 students. All except 15 (2.3%) students were non-Hispanic origins. Mason City Community School District
Mason City Community School District (also known as Mason City Schools) is a public school district headquartered in Mason City, Iowa. It is entirely in Cerro Gordo County and serves the city and surrounding rural areas. History In December 2018, the Iowa State Auditors office found improper distribution of funds, during an eight-year period, concerning $2.2 million. Superintendent Anita Micich did not get the permission from the school board to approve the payments. The office of the Cerro Gordo County Attorney chose not to file criminal charges. Jesup Community School District
Jesup Community School District is a public school district headquartered in Jesup, Iowa. It operates a single K-12 campus in the northern part of the city with separate divisions for elementary, middle, and high school. it has about 1,000 students.
