Sarah Bloom Raskin
Sarah Bloom Raskin (born April 15, 1961) is an American attorney and regulator who served as the 13th United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury from 2014 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, Bloom Raskin previously served as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from 2010 to 2014. She also was Maryland commissioner of financial regulation and a managing director at the Promontory Financial Group. She is a Rubenstein Fellow at Duke University. In May 2017, she was elected to the board of directors for Reserve Trust Company, a Fintech company based in Colorado. In January 2022, President Joe Biden nominated her to succeed Randal Quarles as vice chair for supervision of the Federal Reserve. On March 15, 2022, she withdrew her nomination due to opposition from Republican senators and Democratic senator Joe Manchin. Joe Manchin
Joseph Manchin III (born August 24, 1947) is an American politician and businessman serving as the senior United States senator from West Virginia, a seat he has held since 2010. A member of the Democratic Party, Manchin was the 34th governor of West Virginia from 2005 to 2010 and the 27th secretary of state of West Virginia from 2001 to 2005. After becoming a senator in 2010, he became the state's senior U.S. senator when Jay Rockefeller retired in 2015.
