Sandy (Grease Song)
"Sandy" is a song from the 1978 film '' Grease'', written by Louis St. Louis and Screamin' Scott Simon (of Sha Na Na),Daniels, Robert L. (2003)Grease, ''Variety'', June 17, 2003. and performed by John Travolta, in character as Danny Zuko. It was released as a single in several countries, giving Travolta a no. 2 hit in the UK. Synopsis "Sandy" was one of the songs written specifically for the film that was not in the original musical, which instead had a song named "Alone at a Drive-In Movie" at that point in the story. (Beginning with the 2003 stage production, some productions of the musical now use "Sandy" as it was in the film.) The song is a lament from Danny, a member of the T-Birds gang, who has been abandoned at the drive-in movie after making sexual advances towards his girlfriend, Sandy, in his car. Drive-in Theater
A drive-in theater or drive-in cinema is a form of cinema structure consisting of a large outdoor movie screen, a projection booth, a concession stand, and a large parking area for automobiles. Within this enclosed area, customers can view movies from the privacy and comfort of their cars. Some drive-ins have small playgrounds for children and a few picnic tables or benches. The screen can be as simple as a painted white wall, or it can be a steel truss structure with a complex finish.
