Same-sex Marriage In Gibraltar
Same-sex marriage has been legal in Gibraltar since 15 December 2016. A bill for the legalisation of same-sex marriages was approved by the Parliament on 26 October 2016 and received royal assent on 1 November 2016. Gibraltar was the sixth British Overseas Territory to legalise same-sex marriage, after South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Akrotiri and Dhekelia, the British Indian Ocean Territory, the Pitcairn Islands, and the British Antarctic Territory. Gibraltar has also recognised civil partnerships providing similar rights and responsibilities to those of marriage since 28 March 2014. Civil partnerships In January 2014, a civil partnership bill was published for community consultation and headed for introduction in the Gibraltar Parliament. Paul Balban
The Hon. Paul John Balban is a former Gibraltarian politician, State Registered Dietitian and former taxi driver. He was first elected to the Gibraltar Parliament at the 2011 general elections and was a Gibraltar Government Minister until 12 October 2023, member of the Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party (GSLP). He is married and has three daughters. On 15 September 2023, he announced that he and fellow party MPs and Ministers, Albert Isola and Samantha Sacramento, would not stand for re-election. Edwin Reyes (Gibraltarian Politician)
Edwin Joseph Reyes is a Gibraltarian politician and an MP in the Gibraltar Parliament for the Gibraltar Social Democrats (GSD). Reyes was first elected to parliament during the 2007 Gibraltar general election after which he served as Minister for Culture and later Housing under the cabinet of Peter Caruana. Daniel Anthony Feetham KC MP is a Gibraltarian lawyer and former politician who served as Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Gibraltar Social Democrats (GSD) from 2013 to 2017. Damon James Bossino is a Gibraltarian barrister and Member of the Gibraltar Parliament representing the Gibraltar Social Democrats. The Gibraltar Social Democrats (GSD) is a liberal-conservative, centre-right List of political parties in Gibraltar, political party in Gibraltar. The GSD was the governing party for four successive terms in office under the leadership of Peter Caruana, from the 1996 Gibraltar general election, 1996 general election until the party's electoral defeat in the 2011 Gibraltar general election, 2011 election by the GSLP–Liberal Alliance. Samantha Jane Sacramento is a barrister and former Gibraltar politician. She was the Minister for the Health Authority, Justice, Multiculturalism, Equality and Community Affairs in the Government of Gibraltar. Samantha Sacramento was born in Gibraltar. Fabian Raymond Picardo (born 18 February 1972) is a Gibraltarian politician and barrister, serving as Chief Minister of Gibraltar and Leader of the Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party since 2011.
