Michael Sydney Knowles (born 26 April 1937) is an English actor and scriptwriter who is best known for his roles in BBC sitcoms written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft (TV producer), David Croft. He often starred alongside Donald Hewlett with whom he first appeared in ''It Ain't Half Hot Mum''. They later appeared together in ''Rogue's Rock, Come Back Mrs. Noah'' and ''You Rang, M'Lord?'' Anthony John Melody (18 December 1922 – 26 June 2008) was an English television character actor who appeared in a number of long running comedies and soap operas, with more than 100 television roles. Early life Melody was born in London, where his father was in the Royal Horse Guards, but was brought up in Yorkshire, where his parents ran the Station public house in Goole, West Riding of Yorkshire. Philip Gilbert (March 29, 1931 – January 6, 2004) was a Canadian actor. Background Gilbert was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and educated at Vancouver College. He was a player with the Rank Organisation, appearing in many films during the 1950s and 1960s.
