Syed Emdadul Bari
Syed A. K. Mohammad Emdadul Bari (; 23 November 1935 – 7 September 2020) was a Bangladeshi politician, freedom fighter and lawyer. Early life and education Emdadul Bari was born on 23 November 1935 to a Bengali family of Muslim Syeds in the village of Ranikhar in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria subdivision, Tipperah District, Bengal Presidency (now Bangladesh). He was a father to two sons and three daughters. Emdadul Bari studied at the Ranikhar Primary School, and then at the Talshahar A. I. School from where he passed with a first class in his matriculation. He completed his Intermediate of Arts from Haji Asmat College in Bhairab, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with honours in political science from the Dhaka Salimullah Academy. The East Pakistan Provincial Assembly, known as the East Bengal Legislative Assembly between 1947 and 1955, was the provincial legislature of East Pakistan between 1947 and 1971. It was known as the East Bengal Assembly from 1947 to 1955 when the provincial name was changed. The legislature was a successor to the Bengal Legislative Council and the Bengal Legislative Assembly, which were divided between East Bengal and West Bengal during the partition of Bengal in 1947. 1970 East Pakistan Provincial Assembly Election
Provincial elections were held in East Pakistan on 17 December 1970, ten days after general elections. A total of 1,850 candidates ran for the 300 seats in the East Pakistan Provincial Assembly. The result was a landslide victory for the Awami League, which won 288 of the 300 seats. Background In the previous provincial election in 1954, held in the backdrop of the Bengali language movement, the Awami League, Krishak Sramik Party and other smaller parties formed an alliance called United Front (Jukto Front).
