St Joseph's School (Abu Dhabi)
St Joseph's School (SJS) is an India, Indian Catholic Church, Roman Catholic primary and secondary school in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and is next to St. Joseph's Cathedral, Abu Dhabi. Overview The school was established in 1967 and is managed by the Apostolic Vicariate of the Roman Catholic Church to Arabia. After its establishment, the school was managed by Giovanni Bernardo Gremoli, afterward succeeded by Paul Hinder. The school, always associated with the Roman Catholic Church, was located initially in the church building on the Corniche (Abu Dhabi), Abu Dhabi Corniche. Following the decision of the local government that the site is altered, the present foundation was laid for church and school buildings on 19 March 1981, and dedicated to Saint Joseph, the foster father of Jesus Christ, whose feast-day is celebrated on the same day. Corniche (Abu Dhabi)
The Corniche (or Corniche Road) is located in the city of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The Corniche is 8 km long, and includes children's play areas, separate cycle and pedestrian pathways, restaurants, cafés and the Corniche Beach. It forms a sweeping curve on the western side of the main Abu Dhabi island and is replete with cycle paths, fountains and park areas. Paul Hinder, OFMCap (born 22 April 1942) is a Swiss Catholic bishop. He is the Vicar Apostolic Emeritus of the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia. Bishop Hinder was previously appointed as an Auxiliary Bishop in the former Apostolic Vicariate of Arabia on 30 January 2004. Early life Paul Hinder was born in Bussnang, Switzerland, on 22 April 1942 to Wilhelm Hinder and Agnes Meile. He joined the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin in 1962 and was ordained a priest on 4 July 1967. After specialized studies in canon law in Munich and Fribourg, he obtained his doctorate in theology in 1976. Giovanni Bernardo Gremoli
Giovanni Bernardo Gremoli (30 June 1926 – 6 July 2017) was a Roman Catholic bishop. Born in Italy, Gremoli was ordained to the priesthood in 1951. Gremoli served as titular bishop of Masuccaba and was Apostolic Vicariate of Arabia, Vicar Apostolic of Arabia from 1976 to 2005. During this time, he spent a lot of time in St. Joseph's Cathedral, Abu Dhabi and he is one of the people credited with establishing the presence of the Catholic church in the Arabian Peninsula.
