Specialist (rank)
Specialist is a military rank in some countries' armed forces. Two branches of the United States Armed Forces use the rank. It is one of the four junior enlisted ranks in the United States Army, above private (PVT), private (PV2), and private first class and is equivalent in pay grade to corporal; in the United States Space Force, four grades of specialist comprise the four junior enlisted ranks below the rank of sergeant. Denmark Regular forces In the Royal Danish Navy and Royal Danish Air Force, the rank of specialist is branch-specific; "Naval specialist" and "Air force specialist" () respectively. The ranks are placed below corporal and above private first class (). They are rated OR-3 within NATO and the rank has the grade of M112 within the Ministry of Defence's pay structure. Specialist Status
Specialist schools in the United Kingdom (sometimes branded as specialist colleges in England and Northern Ireland) are schools with an emphasis or focus in a specific specialised subject area, which is called a specialism, or alternatively in the case of some special schools in England, in a specific area of special educational need. They intend to act as centres of excellence in their specialism and, in some circumstances, may select pupils for their aptitude in it. Though they focus on their specialism, specialist schools still teach the full curriculum. Therefore, as opposed to being a significant move away from it, the specialism is viewed as enriching the original curricular offer of the school. Specialists' Shopping Centre
The Specialists' Shopping Centre was the oldest shopping centre on Orchard Road, a shopping area of Singapore. The largest tenants were Hotel Phoenix Singapore and John Little. The Visitor's Guide of Singapore described it as "revered". It was demolished to make way for newer developments in 2008. History Opened in 1972 on the former site of the Pavilion Theatre. The mall was originally named Specialists due to the concentration of medical specialists in its early days. Stores The John Little store was Singapore's oldest department store. The store opened in 1845 in Commercial Square. The main store was in the Specialists' Shopping Centre although there were four branch stores. The store is no longer in Raffles Place. A generalist species is able to thrive in a wide variety of environmental conditions and can make use of a variety of different resources (for example, a heterotroph with a varied diet). A specialist species can thrive only in a narrow range of environmental conditions or has a limited diet. Most organisms do not all fit neatly into either group, however. The Specialist () is a DIY computer designed in Soviet Union. Its description was published in ''Modelist-Konstructor'' (), a magazine for scale model builders in 1987. It was the first such publication in a magazine not oriented on electronics. Overview The original construction was developed by a professional technical school teacher two years earlier. It was much more advanced than previous DIY computers, because it had a higher graphical image resolution (384x256) and a "transparent" video system, which did not slow down the CPU when both the CPU and the video system tried to access the RAM simultaneously. It gained limited popularity with hobbyists, though some factories produced DIY kits (Lik for example). Charles Partlow "Chic" Sale (August 25, 1885 – November 7, 1936) was an American actor, author and vaudevillian. He specialized in playing older men and rural characters. ''Lo Sconosciuto'' (, ''The Unknown [One]'') is an Italian comics series created in 1975 by Roberto Raviola, better known by his pseudonym Magnus. It has been translated into English as ''The Specialist''. The series and its eponymous character was created by Magnus after a series of trips abroad and was defined together with his friend, the singer and writer Francesco Guccini. ''Turn On the Bright Lights'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Interpol. It was released in the United Kingdom on August 19, 2002, and in the United States the following day, through independent record label Matador Records. In the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Specialist (rank), specialists are the group of ranks equivalent to non-commissioned officers in other armed forces. The term was introduced in 1993, for a more "positive" rank classification and shorter waiting time for Warrant Officers and Specialists (WOSPEC) career rank advancements. In the SAF, warrant officers are not considered specialists. Like many other modern militaries, specialists form the backbone of the military. Specialists serve as the supervisor for the training and discipline of enlisted men and women, as well as the supervisor in the use of weapons and equipment, drill and ceremonies.
