Solidarity Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 2024 Solidarity motorcycle Grand Prix (officially known as the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona) was the twentieth and final round of the 2024 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. All races were held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmeló on 17 November 2024. In the MotoGP class, Jorge Martín, riding for the satellite Ducati team Prima Pramac Racing, clinched the Riders' Championship during the main race. He became the first rider since Valentino Rossi in and the first overall during the MotoGP era to win the Riders' Championship with a satellite team. Álex Márquez Alentà (born 23 April 1996) is a Grand Prix motorcycle rider from Spain racing for Ducati satellite team BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP. He has competed in MotoGP since the 2020 season, having previously become World Champion in the 2019 Moto2 World Championship. Aleix Espargaró Villà (; born 30 July 1989) is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racing, Grand Prix motorcycle racer. He was the Spanish 2004 FIM CEV 125cc International Champion and has competed since 2017 in the MotoGP class using Aprilia Racing, Aprilia machines. 2024 Spanish Floods
On 29 October 2024, torrential rain caused by an cut-off low, isolated low-pressure area at high levels brought over a year's worth of precipitation to several areas in eastern Spain, including the Valencian Community, Castilla–La Mancha, and Andalusia. The resulting floodwaters caused the deaths of about 232 people, with three more missing and substantial property damage. It is one of the deadliest natural disasters in Spanish history. Though similar torrential rain events had happened in the past in the region, the flooding was more intense, likely due to the effects of climate change. The poor preparation and disaster response of the Autonomous communities of Spain, regional and national governments also likely aggravated the human cost of the event, notably in Valencian Community, Valencia. Pramac Racing is a motorcycle racing team competing in the MotoGP World Championship based in Casole d'Elsa, Tuscany, Italy.
