Skye (Charlotte)
Skye, formerly known as The Park, is a 22-story building at Caldwell and Third Streets in Charlotte, North Carolina that includes a 172-room Hyatt Place hotel opened October 15, 2013, and a 69-unit condominium development. In 1985, developer Pete Verna built the Charlotte National Building and a parking garage designed to be the base of a skyscraper. Both structures were four stories; the Charlotte National Building included the facade of the First Citizens Bank building which was demolished for First Citizens Plaza. Architect/preservationist Jack Boyte described the reconstructed facade as "classical Greek temple architecture." In 2000, downtown Charlotte's first luxury condominium development, The Park, was announced. The project was delayed by an uncertain economy after the September 11 attacks. Skye is an eastern Suburbs and localities (Australia), suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Burnside. Skye is a suburb and semi-rural locality in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 48 km south-east of Melbourne's central business district via the Monash Freeway, located within the City of Frankston local government area. Isle of Skye (Broadford) Airfield (also known as Ashaig Airstrip or Broadford Aerodrome) is a small airfield on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, with a single runway. It is next to the hamlet of Ashaig, near the village of Broadford. History The airport was constructed by the Corps of Royal Engineers and opened in 1972 to serve as a gateway to the Isle of Skye. Loganair operated a scheduled service from the airfield to Glasgow from 1972. However, this service was discontinued in 1988. No commercial services have existed since then, and the airfield is usually deserted.
