Breaking Benjamin is an American Rock music, rock band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, formed in 1999 by lead singer and guitarist Benjamin Burnley and drummer Jeremy Hummel. The first lineup of the band also included guitarist Aaron Fink and bassist Mark James Klepaski. This lineup released two albums, ''Saturate (Breaking Benjamin album), Saturate'' (2002) and ''We Are Not Alone (Breaking Benjamin album), We Are Not Alone'' (2004), before Hummel was replaced by Chad Szeliga in 2005. The band released two more studio albums, ''Phobia (Breaking Benjamin album), Phobia'' (2006) and ''Dear Agony'' (2009), before entering an extended hiatus in early 2010 due to Burnley's recurring illnesses. ''Saturate'' is the debut studio album by American Rock music, rock band Breaking Benjamin. It was released on August 27, 2002. The album features three singles, including "Polyamorous (song), Polyamorous", "Skin (Breaking Benjamin song), Skin", and "Medicate". The album was certified gold by the RIAA on September 15, 2015. Background After the commercial success of the band's lead single "Polyamorous (song), Polyamorous", there was a dispute between the band and the label on deciding on which single to release next. The band wished for "Medicate", while the label insisted on releasing "Skin (Breaking Benjamin song), Skin" as a single. Eventually, the label decided to go with "Skin", despite some negative feedback with the band and the fairly poor success it reached. Benjamin Jackson Burnley IV (born March 10, 1978) is an American musician and the founder and frontman of the rock band Breaking Benjamin. As the sole constant and namesake of the group, Burnley has served as its principal songwriter, lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist since its inception in 1999. Since signing with Hollywood Records in 2002, Burnley has composed six studio albums under the name Breaking Benjamin, three of which have reached platinum and two of which have reached gold in the United States.
