Sequential Exit Numbering
An exit number is a number assigned to a road junction, usually an exit from a freeway. It is usually marked on the same sign as the destinations of the exit. In some countries, such as the United States and Canada, it is also marked on a sign in the gore. Exit numbers typically reset at political borders such as state lines. Some non-freeways use exit numbers. An extreme case of this is in New York City, where the Grand Concourse and Linden Boulevard were given sequential numbers, one per intersection (both boulevards no longer have exit numbers as of 2011). A milder version of this has been recently used on the West Side Highway, also in New York, where only the major intersections are numbered (possibly to match the planned exits on the cancelled Westway freeway). New York State Route 120A (NY 120A) is a state highway in southern Westchester County, New York, in the United States. It serves as an alternate route to the southern half of New York State Route 120, NY 120 running along the New York–Connecticut state line. The southern terminus of the route is at NY 120 in Harrison, New York, Harrison. Its northern terminus is at NY 120 in North Castle, New York, North Castle. Most of the route straddles the New York–Connecticut state line, and part of the route is physically located in Connecticut. Maryland Route 372 (MD 372) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Wilkens Avenue, the state highway runs from Maryland Route 166, MD 166 in Catonsville, Maryland, Catonsville east to U.S. Route 1 in Maryland, U.S. Route 1 (US 1) in Baltimore.
