Sentinel (foaled 1968) was a Champion South African bred Thoroughbred racehorse. He was bred and raced by the Ellis family froHartford Stud(now part of Summerhill Stud) in KwaZulu-Natal, Kwazulu Natal and trained by Joe Joseph. He raced from 2 to 6 (1971-1975) years of age. He won 29 and placed in 18 of his 56 starts and earned South African rand, ZAR207,990. He won a record 26 stakes races and was placed in another 17 stakes races. He won from 1000m to 1600m and won the Cape Flying Championship (List of South African Flat Races, now Grade 1) over 1000m in three successive years (1973–75). Hear The Drums (foaled 15 October 2002, died 2016) was a South African bred racehorse. He has the highest number of verified wins (34) for any South Africa bred or raced horse. He was foaled in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa at the Summerhill Stud. He was trained by Des McLachlan and owned by Peter Fabricius throughout his racing career. He died in 2016. Background Hear The Drums passed through three sales rings unsold before he was finally sold to Mr PL Fabricius for ZAR42,000 at the Vintage Ready-To-Run sale in 2005. He was sent to the training yard of Des McLachlan in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He commenced his racing career on 29 June 2005 at Arlington racecourse in Port Elizabeth. The hand is a non-SI unit of measurement of length standardized to . It is used to measure the height of horses in many English-speaking countries, including Australia, Canada, Republic of Ireland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It was originally based on the breadth of a human hand. Lanfranco "Frankie" Dettori (; born 15 December 1970), is an Italian jockey who was based in England for a career spanning over 35 years. Gianfranco Dettori (born 25 April 1941) is a retired Italian jockey. Dettori was born in Serramanna, in what is now the Province of South Sardinia, son of a miner. He was thirteen times Italian champion jockey. Len Graham (born 1944) is a Northern Irish traditional singer and song collector from County Antrim, Northern Ireland. He is a leading authority on Folk music in Ireland. Early life Graham was born in County Antrim. His father, a fiddler, brought him to sessions in the local area as a young boy. Throughout the 1960s, Len travelled around Ireland to record and preserve folk songs, befriending singers such as Joe Holmes.
