Seguin or Séguín is a French language, French and Gascon language, Gascon name. It may be a Frankish language, Frankish name, from Germanic languages, Germanic origin (''sig-'', that is, "victory", cf. Armand Séguin (painter)
Armand Séguin (1869–1903) was a post-Impressionist French painter who is remembered for his involvement in the Pont-Aven School beginning in 1891. In 1892, he returned to Pont-Aven where he met Renoir and Émile Bernard. The following year, he associated with Paul Gauguin, who gave him lessons, and collaborated with Roderic O'Conor in producing etchings. He died in Châteauneuf-du-Faou at the age of 34, a destitute alcoholic who was suffering from tuberculosis. Nicolas Seguin (born 6 March 1990) is a French professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Championnat National 3 club Bourgoin-Jallieu. Club career Prior to the start of the 2010–11 season, Seguin signed his first professional contract after agreeing to a three-year deal with Lyon. Napoléon Séguin
Napoléon Séguin (December 13, 1865 – January 29, 1940) was a Canadian politician. Born in Sainte Madeleine de Rigaud, Canada East, Séguin was acclaimed to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec for Montréal division no. 1 in 1908. A Liberal, he was re-elected in Montréal–Sainte-Marie in 1912, 1916, and 1919. He was a Minister without Portfolio in the cabinet of Lomer Gouin in 1919 and in the cabinet of Louis-Alexandre Taschereau in 1920. Marc Séguin (painter)
Marc Séguin (born March 20, 1970) is a French Canadian painter and novelist whose work is held in several important collections. Life Marc Séguin was born in Ottawa, Ontario on March 20, 1970. He studied at Concordia University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. He writes, paints and makes prints. Recurrent themes in his writings and visual works include destruction, terrorism, the papacy, dictatorship and serial killers. One of his more macabre concepts has been to make paintings using human ashes. He is the father of four children, and divides his time between his organic farm in Hemmingford, Quebec, and his studio in Brooklyn, New York. Marc Seguin (20 April 1786 – 24 February 1875) was a French engineer, inventor of the wire-Wire rope, cable suspension bridge and the multi-tubular steam-engine firetube boiler, boiler. Early life Seguin was born in Annonay, Ardèche to Marc François Seguin (1757–1832), the founder of Seguin & Co., and Thérèse-Augustine de Montgolfier (1764–1843), a niece of the pioneer hot air balloonist Joseph Montgolfier. Career Bridges Seguin was an inventor and entrepreneur who developed the first suspension bridge in continental Europe. He built and administered 186 toll-bridges throughout France. Julianne Séguin (born November 7, 1996) is a Canadian pair skater. With Charlie Bilodeau, she is the 2016 Skate America champion, the 2015 World Junior silver medallist, the 2014 Junior Grand Prix Final champion, and a three-time Canadian national medallist. Fernand Seguin, (June 9, 1922 – June 19, 1988) was a Canadian biochemist, professor and host of science programs on radio and television. In fact, Seguin, who hosted a program on Radio-Canada's TV network in 1954, is believed to be the first broadcaster to present a science program on television in Canada. He was the first Canadian to receive the UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science, the only other being David Suzuki in 1986. Erasmo Seguín
Juan José María Erasmo de Jesús Seguín y Fuentes (May 26, 1782 – October 30, 1857) was a prominent citizen and politician in San Antonio de Bexar (modern-day San Antonio, Texas, USA) in the 19th century. From 1807 until 1835, Seguín served as head postmaster of San Antonio, Texas. After Mexico achieved independence from Spain, Seguín was named the sole representative from Texas to the constitutional convention. He helped to draft the Constitution of 1824 and was a major influence in the addition of a general colonization provision. Seguín assisted Stephen F. Austin in choosing land for the first colony of American settlers to immigrate to Texas. He later supported the Texas Revolution, providing political as well as material support.
