Secretary Of State Of Ohio
The secretary of state of Ohio is an elected statewide official in the state of Ohio. The secretary of state is responsible for overseeing elections in the state; registering business entities (corporations, etc.) and granting them the authority to do business within the state; registering secured transactions; and granting access to public documents. From 1803 to 1851, the Ohio secretary of state was elected by the Ohio General Assembly to a three-year term. The 1851 Ohio Constitution made the office elective, with a two-year term. In 1954, the office's term was extended to four years. The secretary of state is elected in even-numbered, off cycle years, (no Presidential elections), after partisan primary elections. Frank LaRose (born April 18, 1979) is an American politician who has served as the 51st Ohio Secretary of State, secretary of state of Ohio since January 2019. A Republican Party (United States), Republican, he was member of the Ohio State Senate for two terms, from January 2011 to January 2019. Addison Peale Russell (September 8, 1826 – July 24, 1912) was an American author of the later nineteenth century. He is remembered mainly for his '' Sub-Coelum'' — "his best book...a Utopian protest against materialistic socialism." Russell was born in Ohio; his formal education ended with grammar school. At the age of sixteen he took a job as a printer for a newspaper; by nineteen he had worked his way up to editor and publisher of the Hillsboro, Ohio ''News''. Samuel Galloway
Samuel Galloway (March 20, 1811 – April 5, 1872) was a U.S. Representative from Ohio. Born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Galloway attended local public schools. He moved to Ohio and settled in Highland County in 1830. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1833. Galloway then attended Princeton Theological Seminary in 1835 and 1836. He taught school in Hamilton, Ohio, 1836 and 1837, at Miami University in 1837 and 1838, and Hanover College, Indiana, in 1839 and 1840. After studying law, he was admitted to the bar in 1843 and commenced practice in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was the Ohio Secretary of State in 1844, and moved to Columbus that same year. Samuel is a figure who, in the narratives of the Hebrew Bible, plays a key role in the transition from the biblical judges to the United Kingdom of Israel under Saul, and again in the monarchy's transition from Saul to David. John Sloane (November 3, 1779May 15, 1856) was a U.S. Representative from Ohio and later the Treasurer of the United States. Born in York, Pennsylvania, Sloane moved to Ohio in early youth. He completed preparatory studies. He served as member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1803 to 1805 and again in 1807. Sloane served as colonel of militia in the War of 1812. United States receiver of public moneys at Canton, Ohio from 1808 to 1816 and at Wooster 1816-1819. Sloane was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Congresses, reelected as an Adams-Clay Republican to the Eighteenth Congress, and elected as an Adams candidate to the Nineteenth and Twentieth Congresses (March 4, 1819 – March 4, 1829).
