Rusty Wright
Rusty Wright is an American football coach. He is the head football coach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, position he has held since 2019. Wright replaced Tom Arth, who left to be the head football coach at the University of Akron. Before being named the head coach at Chattanooga, Wright was a player and assistant coach at Chattanooga and was an assistant at Miami University, Butler University, Gardner–Webb University, Furman University, Reinhardt University, and Georgia State University. The 2020 Chattanooga Mocs football team represented the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I FCS football season as a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon). The Mocs were led by second-year head coach Rusty Wright and played their home games at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tennessee. On March 29, 2021, Chattanooga announced that it would opt out of the remainder of the 2021 spring season due to safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Schedule Chattanooga originally had a game scheduled against James Madison (September 12), but it was canceled on July 17 due to the CAA's decision to cancel fall sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020–21 NCAA Division I FCS football season, part of college football in the United States, was organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level. The regular season and postseason were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. Multiple FCS conferences moved their scheduled games from the fall of 2020 to the spring of 2021, and in August 2020, the NCAA announced that the FCS postseason would also be delayed. While the NCAA at one point announced a cancellation of the FCS playoff, in late September 2020 a revised playoff schedule was announced, with the FCS Championship Game played on May 16, 2021.
