Clifford Smith (director)
Clifford Smith (1894–1937) was an American film director who also occasionally acted and produced. He directed over eighty films between 1915 and 1937 as well as several serials, doing much of his work for Universal Pictures. Primarily a director of westerns he worked with leading genre stars such as William S. Hart. Edith Yorke
Edith Yorke (born Edith Murgatroyd; 23 December 1867 – 28 July 1934) was an English actress. She appeared in more than 60 films between 1919 and 1933. Biography Yorke was born in Derby; her family later moved to Croydon, Surrey. Edith returned to Derby, where she taught destitute children in a local workhouse. She married Robert Byard and emigrated with him and their children to the United States in 1902, becoming a film actress in her 50s, mainly in supporting roles. Her daughter was a film actress also, and her son became a violinist with a symphony orchestra. Yorke died in Southgate, California, aged 66. Lillian Worth (born Lillian Burgher Murphy, June 24, 1884 – February 23, 1952) was an American actress. She appeared in 58 films between 1913 and 1937. Early life and career Lillian Burgher Murphy was born on June 24, 1884, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Katherine Stahler and John Burgher Murphy. After she married in 1905, she began using her husband's surname as her stage name; and by 1909 she, as Lillian Wiggins, had gained public attention and favorable reviews for her performance in the theatrical production ''The Beauty Spot''. By early 1913, she was a leading actress at Pathé's West Coast studio in Edendale, Los Angeles, where she starred in Western films. Matty Kemp (September 10, 1907 – December 12, 1999) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1926 and 1943. After retiring from acting, Kemp produced many musical short films. In 1954, he contributed the story for the Jane Russell musical film ''The French Line''. A close friend of actor and musician Charles "Buddy" Rogers and his wife Mary Pickford, Kemp was an early manager of the Mary Pickford Foundation.
