Rugby union in Hungary is a minor but growing sport. The Hungarian Rugby Union ( Hungarian: "Magyar Rögbi Szövetség") was founded in 1990, and affiliated to the IRB in 1991.Bath, Richard (ed.) The Hungarian Rugby Union ( hu, Magyar Rögbi Szövetség) is the governing body for rugby union in Hungary. It was founded in 1990 and became affiliated to the International Rugby Board in 1992. It organises the three leagues, the Extraliga, the NB I and II, for what concerns rugby union. A few rugby 7s tournaments with also National 7s league and University Rugby 7s, and the various national teams. It is based in Esztergom. The 2015 Rugby World Cup was the eighth Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial rugby union world championship. The tournament was hosted by England from 18 September to 31 October. The Croatia national rugby union team is governed by the Croatian Rugby Union. Croatia have been playing internationals rugby since 1992, they have yet to qualify for the Rugby World Cup. Thus far, Austria has not made an appearance at any of the World Cups. The national side is ranked 87th in the world, as of 16 January 2023.
