The Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath) is a professional membership organisation. Its main function is the overseeing of postgraduate training, and its Fellowship Examination (FRCPath) is recognised as the standard assessment of fitness to practise in this branch of medicine. Veterinary pathologists are veterinarians who specialize in the diagnosis of diseases through the examination of animal tissue and body fluids. Alastair Bellingham
Alastair John Bellingham (27 March 1938 –4 December 2017) was a British haematologist. Early life and education Bellingham was born to Stanley Herbert Bellingham and Sybil Mary Milne. He was a graduate of Tiffin Boys' School and University College London Hospital Medical School. Career Bellingham did research on red cell abnormalities including sickle-cell disease. Sir Roderick MacSween
Sir Roderick Norman McIver MacSween (2 February 1935 – 11 December 2015) was a Scottish pathologist, professor of pathology at University of Glasgow, 1984 to 1999. MacSween was a past President of the Royal College of Pathologists (1996–99), a member of the General Medical Council (1998-2001) and was knighted for services to medicine and to pathology in 2000. He was a chairman of Tenovus Scotland, which annually award the Sir Roddy MacSween prize and medal to a medical student of the University of Glasgow for outstanding performance in pathology. Sir John Lilleyman
Sir John Stuart Lilleyman (born 9 July 1945) is a British paediatric haematologist. He specialization is the childhood leukemia. In 1991, the Royal College of Pathologists awarded him its first Distinguished Service Medal for establishing the United Kingdom's system of pathology laboratory accreditation. Sir James Cresseé Elphinstone Underwood FMedSci (born 11 April 1942) is a British pathologist who was awarded a knighthood for services to medicine in the 2005 New Year honours list. Early life and education Underwood was born at Walsall in 1942, where his father, John Underwood, was a general practitioner. The family settled in Cheltenham in 1948. Suzannah Claire "Suzy" Lishman CBE (born ) was the President of the Royal College of Pathologists 2014–2017. Career Lishman was educated at King's Ely, and Girton College, Cambridge, and after qualifying in medicine specialised in histopathology, being appointed a consultant in 1999. Joanne Elizabeth Martin is National Specialty Advisor for Pathology to NHSEngland and Improvement, and Professor of Pathology at Queen Mary University of London. She was the President of the Royal College of Pathologists from November 2017 until November 2020.
