Roy Davies (bishop)
Roy Thomas Davies (31 January 1934 – 7 August 2013) was a Welsh Anglican clergyman, who served as Bishop of Llandaff from 1985 to 1999. Life Davies was educated at St David's College, Lampeter, Wales, obtaining a BA degree in 1955, and then at Jesus College, Oxford, where he obtained a BLitt in 1959. He trained for ordination at St Stephen's House, Oxford. He was ordained deacon in 1959, and ordained priest in 1960, serving as assistant curate of Llanelli, Saint Paul from 1959 to 1964. He was then vicar of Llanafan y Trawsgoed from 1964 to 1967 before working as chaplain to Anglican students at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth from 1967 to 1973. After being secretary of the Provincial Council for Mission and Unity of the Church in Wales from 1973 to 1979, he became vicar of St David's, Carmarthen from 1979 to 1983. Roy Davies (cricketer)
David Roy Davies (12 August 1928 – 14 July 2013) was a Welsh cricketer. Davies was a right-handed batsman. He was born at Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. He was educated in his later early years at Cardiff University. Davies made a single first-class appearance for Glamorgan in 1950 against Somerset. In the match, he scored 7 runs in his only first-class innings. Davies was an industrial chemist and fuel technologist who later worked for Unilever. Davies also played squash, a sport he represented Wales in. Family Davies had an older brother, Haydn, who played first-class cricket for Glamorgan and the Marylebone Cricket Club. Both of their parents were killed during the Second World War, after which Haydn adopted Roy and became his legal father. His nephew Andrew Davies played first-class cricket for Cambridge University and List-A cricket for the Combined Universities. Ronald Alfred "Roy" Davies (23 August 1924 – 10 December 1973) was a South African professional footballer. Career Davies played for Germiston Callies in his native South Africa, before his career was interrupted by the Second World War. Following the conflict, Davies signed for Scottish club Clyde, where he spent four years and made 60 league appearances, also playing in the 1949 Scottish Cup Final. Joining English team Luton Town in 1951, Davies played 171 games for the club before moving into semi-retirement with Bedford Town and Weymouth.
