Rosina Davies
Rosina Davies (2 September 1863 – 21 October 1949) was a Welsh evangelist during the 1904–1905 Welsh revival. Personal life Davies was born in Treherbert, Glamorgan in 1863. She was the third of six children. She was homeschooled. Davies is the great aunt of Welsh author, actor and singer Siân Phillips. During her life, Davies was painted by George Frederick Harris, grandfather of Rolf Harris. Davies stood as an independent candidate for St Ishmaels in the 1919 Carmarthen Rural District Council election. She came last with 25 votes. Evangelism Aged 14, Davies left home to join a Salvation Army mission in Maesteg. She started doing preaching tours in 1881. In 1893, she held a mission service for Welsh people living in Chicago, Illinois and in 1900, she held a mission service in Llangollen, Denbighshire. Treherbert
Treherbert () is a village and community (Wales), community situated at the head of the Rhondda Fawr valley in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Historic counties of Wales, Historically part of Glamorgan. Treherbert is the upper most community of the Rhondda Fawr and encompasses the districts of Blaencwm, Blaenrhondda, Tynewydd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Tynewydd and Pen-yr-englyn. Toponymy 'Tre- (place name element), Tre[f]' means 'town', and is derived from the word for a settlement, hamlet, or town. 'Herbert' refers to the surname of the Earls of Pembroke. Maesteg
Maesteg (; ) is a town and community in Bridgend County Borough, Wales. Maesteg lies at the northernmost end of the Llynfi Valley, close to the border with Neath Port Talbot. In 2011, Maesteg had a population of 20,612. The English translation of Maesteg is 'fair field'. Maesteg officially became a town in 1826 and is celebrating it's bicentenary in 2026 with organised events and celebrations being organised by a committee of residents and local groups and businesses. Historically a part of Glamorgan, the growth of the town started with the opening of ironworks in the 1820s and 1830s. Once a coal mining area, the last pit closed in 1985. The Union of Welsh Independents () is a Reformed church, Reformed Congregationalist denomination in Wales. History Welsh Congregational churches or Independent (religion), Independents stand in the Puritan tradition. The first Congregational congregation was founded at Llanfaches, Monmouthshire, in 1639. Early founders were in the Puritan tradition. Later, several churches were founded and formed separate denominations. They embraced different theological positions. Denbighshire ( ; ) is a county in the north-east of Wales.
