Roman Catholic Diocese Of Kharkiv-Zaporizhia
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kharkiv-Zaporizhzhia ( la, Dioecesis Kharkiviensis-Zaporizhiensis) is a diocese of the Latin Church of the Catholic Church in Ukraine. Pavlo Honcharuk is the current bishop of the diocese. The diocesan seat is the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kharkiv, and the co-cathedral is the Co-Cathedral of the Merciful Father in Zaporizhzhia. History The diocese was created in 2002, when territory from the dioceses of the Diocese of Kamyanets-Podilskyi, and the Diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr was split off and merged. The result created two dioceses with Catholic of around 5 percent, and one diocese with only 0.4, which is one of the lowest for any diocese. Cathedral Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin Mary, Kharkiv
The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary ( uk, Кафедральний собор Успіння Пресвятої Діви Марії ) also called Assumption Cathedral is the name given to a religious building affiliated with the Catholic Church, Roman Catholic Church and is located in the city of Kharkiv, in Kharkiv Oblast in east part of the European country of Ukraine. The temple was built in neo-Gothic style between 1887 and 1892 on Gogol Street. The author of the temple project was a Polish architect, Bolesław Michałowski (1830-1909). He designed about 30 buildings in Kharkiv. In the thirties of the twentieth century, during the period of the Soviet Union the church was closed and turned into secular Local housed, among others, a cinema and an installation of the Communist Party. Roman Catholic Deanery Of Sumy
The Roman Catholic Deanery of Sumy is a part of the Diocese of Kharkiv-Zaporizhzhia of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine. It includes four north-eastern Ukrainian towns, Sumy, Romny, Konotop and Shostka. The center of the deanery is located on the high right bank of the Psel River (left tributary of the Dnieper), in one of the old districts in the heart of the ancient Ukrainian capital Sumy. In the Middle Ages, the town was annexed by the possessions of the Orthodox monastery of St. Sophronius of the Wilderness (near Putivl). The Order of Friars Minor (also called the Franciscans, the Franciscan Order, or the Seraphic Order; postnominal abbreviation OFM) is a mendicant Catholic religious order, founded in 1209 by Francis of Assisi. Stanislav Shyrokoradiuk, O.F.M. ( uk, Станіслав Широкорадюк, ''pol. Stanisław Szyrokoradiuk''; born 23 June 1956) is a Ukrainian prelate of the Catholic Church who became Bishop of Odessa-Simferopol since February 2020 after a year as Coadjutor Bishop there. He was Bishop of Kharkiv-Zaporizhzhia from 2014 to 2019 and Auxiliary Bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr from 1994 to 2014. Life Shyrokoradiuk was born into a Polish Roman-Catholic family in Kornachivka (Kornaczówka), Yarmolyntsi Raion, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, on 23 June 1956. He graduated from a railway college in Zdolbuniv, performed his compulsory service in the Soviet Army from 1974 to 1976, and worked in factories.
