Roger Nelson (Canadian Football)
Roger Nelson (May 8, 1932 – July 29, 1996) was an American and Canadian football offensive tackle and guard. He played in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskimos from 1954 to 1967 and was a part of two Grey Cup winning teams for the Eskimos. Nelson played college football at the University of Oklahoma and was drafted in the fourteenth round of the 1954 NFL Draft. Nelson was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1986, the Edmonton Eskimo Wall of Honour in 1987, and, as part of the 1954–1956 Edmonton Eskimos football teams, the Alberta Sport Hall of Fame in 2007. His son, Mark Nelson, played for the Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders between 1980 and 1986 and has coached in both college football and the Canadian Football League. Wynnewood, Oklahoma
Wynnewood is a city in Garvin County, Oklahoma, United States. It is south of Oklahoma City. The population was 2,212 at the 2010 U.S. census, compared to 2,367 in 2000. Located in what was then the Chickasaw Nation of Indian Territory, it began as a village called "Walner" in 1886, on the proposed route of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway. Railroad workers from Pennsylvania named the community for Wynnewood, a community outside of Philadelphia. The name became official on April 6, 1887. History At the time of its founding, Wynnewood was located in Pickens County, Chickasaw Nation. Wynnewood quickly became a market town for the surrounding area. NFL Draft
The National Football League Draft, also called the NFL Draft or (officially) the Player Selection Meeting, is an annual event which serves as the league's most common source of player recruitment. Each team is given a position in the drafting order in reverse order relative to its record in the previous year, which means that the last place team is positioned first and the Super Bowl champion is last. San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers (also written as the San Francisco Forty-Niners) are a professional American football team based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Long Snapper
In American football, the long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and 7–8 yards during field goals and extra point attempts. Overview During field goal and point after touchdown attempts, the snap is received by the holder, typically 7–8 yards away. During punts, the snap is delivered to the punter from 13–15 yards away. Following a punt snap, the snapper often executes a blocking assignment and then must cover the kick by running downfield and attempting to stop the opposing team's punt returner from advancing the ball in the opposite direction. If the punt goes uncaught, it is the snapper's responsibility to make sure the ball does not enter the end zone or bounce backward resulting in loss of yards. New Mexico State Aggies
The New Mexico State University teams are called the Aggies, a nickname derived from the university's agricultural beginnings. The mascot is known as " Pistol Pete". NMSU's colors are crimson and white. Since 2005 the Aggies have competed in the Western Athletic Conference in all men's and women's sports with the exception of football in which the Aggies have been Independent since 2018. The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional Canadian football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
