Rock 'til You Drop
''Rock 'til You Drop'' is the twentieth studio album by English rock band Status Quo and their last on the Vertigo label after nearly 20 years. Singer and guitarist Francis Rossi produced the album. "Rossi is particularly fond of 1991's ''Rock 'til You Drop''," reported ''Classic Rock'' a decade later. " '' uitarist Rick' Parfitt hates the record." The album closes with a version of "Forty Five Hundred Times" that's one verse and three minutes longer than the ''Hello!'' original. "We were trying to make the song current for that incarnation of the band," said Rossi. "Whether or not we were successful in that… well, probably not. Musically speaking, it will have been tidier than the original – the playing would have improved. But, as we discovered on the '' rantic Four's 2013' reunion tour, that's not really what it's all about. Album
An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Can't Give You More
"Can't Give You More" is a single released by the British Rock band Status Quo in 1991. The original version was included on the album '' Rockin' All Over The World''. This single was a re-recorded version which was to be used as an advertising campaign for Perrier Water. The words 'Eau Eau Eau' were also included in the title on some of the 7 inch vinyl copies. However, due to various problems encountered by the Perrier company at the time the campaign was cancelled. Jeff Rich
Jeffrey Dennis Rich (born 8 June 1953) is an English rock drummer, best known for playing with Status Quo between 1985 and 2000. Early life Born in Hackney, London, Rich attended Upton House Comprehensive School, and whilst there he appeared in the opera ''Tosca'' at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Career Rich helped out Def Leppard in August 1986 and played alongside Rick Allen who had lost his left arm in a car accident in December 1984. However, during the band's warm-up tour of Ireland, Rich missed a gig and the rest of the band realised Allen could drum alone. Rich subsequently played with Stretch, Judie Tzuke and the Climax Blues Band. In late 1985, he replaced Pete Kircher in Status Quo. In April 2000 he left the group, citing exhaustion and family commitments. He was replaced on drums by Matt Letley. John Edwards (musician)
John Victor "Rhino" Edwards (born 9 May 1953) is an English bass guitarist, playing in the rock group Status Quo. Career Born in Chiswick, London, Edwards learnt classical violin as a child and won a scholarship to the London College of Music at the age of eleven. He was educated at Chiswick Grammar School and Stinsford School, Dorchester. Around 1973–4, Edwards was to be found playing simultaneously in two pub bands in The White Bear in Hounslow (a venue renowned at that time as a music venue, where Rick Wakeman had been a regular player). The two bands were The Sunday Band (playing on that day of the week), playing covers of rock standards, and Rococo, with a regular Friday slot, and sharing the same singer as well as bass player. Rococo released a single "Ultrastar"/"Wildfire" on Decca Deram in 1973. Later on he joined Judie Tzuke's backing band whereupon he was given the nickname "Rhino" for being so clumsy. Andy Bown
Andrew Steven Bown (born 27 March 1946) is an English musician, who has specialised in keyboards and bass guitar. He is a member of the rock band Status Quo. Career Bown's first major band was The Herd, along with Peter Frampton. After The Herd dissolved he spent two years with Judas Jump who were the opening act of the Isle of Wight Festival 1970. He played eyboards at firstfor Frampton in the 1970s then switched to bass briefly when Rick Wills departed the Peter Frampton band in early 1975. Bown himself left the Frampton entourage less than a year later, just as Frampton was on the verge of achieving worldwide success. He went back to England where he first dabbled with a solo career (recording two solo albums for Bill Gaff's GM label, US Mercury), then resumed work with Status Quo whom he started playing keyboards for in 1973 as a session musician, including sessions with Jerry Lee Lewis on the London Sessions Album. Forty Five Hundred Times
"Forty Five Hundred Times" is a song by British rock band Status Quo. It is the final track on their 1973 album ''Hello!'', almost ten minutes long and regularly performed live. The group's frontmen, Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt, have said it is one of their favourite songs by the band, with Parfitt using a special dropped tuning. While never released as a single, the song was #1 as voted by fans. Composition The song was one of the few that members Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt wrote together. Rossi recalled, "Each time we'd get something good Rick would try to improve it and we'd lose track of where we were. It was like pulling teeth, which is among the reasons why we stopped writing together." Wilbert Harrison
Wilbert Huntington Harrison (January 5, 1929 – October 26, 1994) was an American rhythm and blues singer, pianist, guitarist and harmonica player. Biography Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Harrison had a Billboard #1 record in 1959 with the song "Kansas City". The song was written in 1952 and was one of the first credited collaborations by the team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. Harrison recorded "Kansas City" for the Harlem-based entrepreneur Bobby Robinson, who released it on his Fury record label. At the height of the song's success, Robinson was sued by Savoy Records who informed them that the release of the record in March 1959 violated a contract Harrison had with that label that was to expire in August 1959. Let's Work Together
"Let's Stick Together" is a blues-based rhythm and blues song written by Wilbert Harrison. In 1962, Fury Records released it as a single. Harrison further developed the song and in 1969, Sue Records issued it as a two-part single titled "Let's Work Together". Although Harrison's original song did not appear in the record charts, his reworked version entered the U.S. Top 40. Several artists subsequently recorded the songs; "Let's Work Together" by Canned Heat (1970) and "Let's Stick Together" by Bryan Ferry (1976) were both chart successes. Original songs "Let's Stick Together" is a mid-tempo twelve-bar blues-style R&B song. According to music writer Richard Clayton, "Harrison probably intended 'Let’s Stick Together' as his follow-up single o 'Kansas City' but a contract dispute prevented him from releasing it while his star was in the ascendant".
