Robert Rosenthal (psychologist)
Robert Rosenthal (born March 2, 1933) is a German-born American psychologist who is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Riverside. His interests include self-fulfilling prophecies, which he explored in a well-known study of the Pygmalion effect: the effect of teachers' expectations on students. Biography Rosenthal was born in Gießen, Hesse, on March 2, 1933, and left Germany with his family at the age of six. In 1956, he was awarded a PhD by the University of California, Los Angeles. He started his career as a clinical psychologist and then moved into social psychology. From 1962 to 1999 he taught at Harvard, became chairman of the psychology department there in 1992, and Edgar Pierce Professor of Psychology in 1995. On retiring from Harvard in 1999, he went to California. Lieutenant Colonel Robert "Rosie" Rosenthal (June 11, 1917 – April 20, 2007) was an American lawyer and bomber pilot. A highly decorated officer of the Eighth Air Force of the United States Army Air Forces in World War II, he received sixteen awards including the Distinguished Service Cross for "extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against the enemy," the Silver Star (with oak leaf cluster) for "gallantry in action," the Distinguished Flying Cross (with oak leaf cluster) for "heroism or extraordinary achievement during aerial flight", the Air Medal (with seven clusters) and the Purple Heart (with cluster), as well as the Distinguished Flying Cross from Great Britain and the Croix de Guerre from France. Robert D. Rosenthal (born April 28, 1949) is a prominent Long Island businessman and wealth management professional. He is the founder, CEO of First Long Island Investors, a boutique wealth management firm. Early life and education Robert D. Rosenthal was born in New York City, New York, to Udith and George Rosenthal. He is the second of three children. Rosenthal graduated ''cum laude'' from Boston University in 1971 and received a J.D. degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 1974. Rosenthal was admitted to the New York State Bar Association in 1975. Career Early work Rosenthal began his career in 1971 at Entenmann's Inc.
