Rita Panahi (born 1976) is an Australian conservative political commentator and columnist of Iranian descent. She is a columnist in the ''Herald Sun'', owned by News Corp Australia, is the host of ''The Rita Panahi Show'', ''Lefties Losing It'' and ''The Friday Show'' on Sky News Australia and is a contributor to ''Sunrise (Australian TV program), Sunrise'' on the Seven Network. She is on the radio at 3AW and 2GB. Her views have been described as conservative and right-wing. Early life and education Rita Panahi was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, United States, the child of Iranian parents. Her mother was a midwife, and her father was an agricultural engineer. The family returned to Iran during her infancy, living on the coast and moving to Tehran by 1979. Pine Bluff, officially the City of Pine Bluff, is the List of municipalities in Arkansas, tenth-most populous city in the U.S. state of Arkansas and the county seat of Jefferson County, Arkansas, Jefferson County. 1996 Australian Federal Election
The 1996 Australian federal election was held to determine the members of the 38th Parliament of Australia. It was held on 2 March 1996. All 148 seats of the House of Representatives and 40 seats of the 76-seat Senate were up for election. The Liberal/National Coalition led by Opposition Leader John Howard of the Liberal Party and coalition partner Tim Fischer of the National Party defeated the incumbent Australian Labor Party government led by Prime Minister Paul Keating in a landslide victory. Margaret Simons (born 1960) is an Australian academic, freelance journalist and author. She has written numerous articles and essays as well as many books, including a biography of Senate leader of the Australian Labor Party, Penny Wong and Australian minister for the environment Tanya Plibersek.
